Why ABB Must Happen Seriously, You Have to Read This!
Edited on Sat Feb-21-04 08:38 PM by littlejoe
Earlier today I posted in the General Forum, but got very few readers.

If you will please take the time to read this link, not only will it shock, scare and appall you, it will leave you with infinitely more fear and loathing of the murderer in the White House than you might possibly be able to imagine.

I am not given to bombast. Please click the link.

Once on this link, go to Katherine Yurica and Laurie Hall's article, "The Despoiling of America: How George W. Bush became the Head of the Dominionist Church/State".

9. Absolutely chilling!
I'm not even sure what to do with that info. The rise of the evangelical right-wing is certainly obvious to me where I live, but trying to quote the depth of research in that article would make one sound obsessive and paranoid for sure.

'Even considered printing it, but it's almost a book.

By the way, the link you gave worked for me.

The sick fundies want to rule the world, they are no worse than the Wahabbi's.

But that still doesn't change anything. I'm already not voting for bush, I don't need another reason not to vote for him and his band of thugs in the BFEE.

That's why I'm a supporter of www.ffrf.org

14. Here is another story on the same subject.
"Evangelism in Social, Domestic and Foreign Policy"

By Norman Council from Newtopia

America is in the grip of an evangelical movement. This movement is not, as one might assume given the primary definition of evangelism, propagated entirely by the 44% of Americans who make the personal claim of being "Born Again." This evangelism is not even, in any specific sense, dedicated to the "spreading the gospel" of Jesus Christ, although its leaders often articulate its agenda in Christian evangelical rhetoric. Though it has its roots in Christianity, this evangelical movement, which controls the domestic and foreign policy processes in this country, is purely political in nature.

Yes, I'm shocked but not surprised. The penetration of our government by sheer evil is appalling. We need to wake up!

18. Thank you for the link. It is absolutely astounding to see
the list of players involved and their role in the movement.

16. That's a bleak scenario the author paints.
I hope that's his "worst case" scenario. I don't want to believe that America will go so far back into religious totalitarianism in the information age. HOWEVER, if we ever start to slip as a society (i.e. Peak Oil), the fundamental church will gain a lot of support. This always happens when a animal is scared. It pulls back.

That's why I think the fundies LOVE that this gay marriage issue is being pushed so hard. They know they need to keep the backlash against a progressive society going, and this stuff is food of the gods for them.

Brrrrrrrr......

I remain skeptical.

on edit: I am not skeptical that Bush needs to be defeated, but that there is that much organization and cohesion in the christian movements. Sorry if I misled.

19. Skepticism is a healthy thing, but in this case, has no place.
There is simply too much information out there on this subject. Besides, if you have been living in the U.S. for the last twenty-five years you have witnessed first hand the rise in power of the religious right, and the chilling effect it has had on the country.
