can jane fonda be far behind? what other hasbeen bogeyman for the right wing can come forth to endorse the goddess of peace?

can the star of yentil bring in any new votes? or more importantly, can she host a few high-priced dinners to bring in more $$ for the lil dog?

Democratic Party now? I didn't get the memo.

the Democratic party since they found their own political voices, going on over 40 years now, both have been mocked and taunted for it. It's hard for me to imagine why any Democrat would feel the need to join the GOP noise machine,no matter who their candidate.I also wonder what "has been" is designed to mean, too old to matter?

6. She's Donated Tons Of Dough To The Democrats
Edited on Wed Nov-28-07 08:53 AM by DemocratSinceBirth
By being a outspoken Democrat she has succeeded in alienating half the country...

She's not my cup of tea... But why do you mock her?

Or why do you mock Jane Fonda?

No celebrity stuck his or her neck out more during the Viet Nam War...

on edit- Oh, Magic Johnson endorsed Hillary...Is Magic a joke too?

7. Ms. Streisand has been extraordinarily generous to Democratic campaigns
for a long time.

I would count her as a highly valued ally.

Early in her career she had to shovel a lot of the "strong woman" bias that Sen. Clinton has faced. There's some common ground there in more than just politics.

Also, she's the greatest voice of our generation with an orchestra.

10. She's Not My Cup Of Tea Because I'm Not A Fan Generally Of That Genre
But she has a great set of pipes and for what's it worth she is a diva and cultural icon... The original poster tries to portray her as Debby Boone..

15. If the original poster can out-sing her, I'll accept the criticism.
If the original poster can not out sing her, I think your version of events is accurate.

Streisand is a genre-blasting icon, definitely.

One of the most dazzlingly instinctive musicians ever to walk into a recording studio.

And a bedrock-loyal Democrat to boot.

her endorsement is a detriment though. 2 of the right's favorite bogeymen paired up to bring out the base. if Michael Moore didn't have values, he'd be able to complete the triangle.

14. I Agree With You About The Utility Of Her Endorsement
But she is a diva and cultural icon...

I'd also doubt the utility of Michael Moore's endorsement in a general election but I wouldn't doubt his ability as great documentary film maker...

Ditto for Jane Fonda...

I don't see a need to mock them...

Edited on Wed Nov-28-07 09:15 AM by DemocratSinceBirth
Barbara Streisand is a great, great, great Democrat...She has raised more dough for Dems than anybody on this board...

To your question Oprah is more popular... And don't think Barbara's Bush* bashing and pro Democratic politics didn't cost her some popularity...

16. Here is Streisand's statement

"Madame President of the United States...it's an extraordinary thought. We truly are in a momentous time, where a woman's potential has no limitations," said Streisand. "Hillary Clinton has already proven to a generation of women that there are no limits for success. She is driven by her passion for public service and her belief in the enormous potential of our country. Smart, capable and strong in her convictions, Hillary has transcended the dictates of what is thought to be possible for our time."

"Hillary is a powerful voice for change as we find our country at an important crossroads. Under her leadership, our country will regain its respect within the global community. She will prioritize issues of global climate change, universal health care and rebuilding a strong economy. After 8 long years, the public will once again have faith in their government.”

This quotation here of hers may be a valuable bookmark of the 2008 campaign. I'm for John Edwards but acknowledge many of the points Streisand makes here.

20. Streisand and Fonda are genuinely talented, always interesting, and often
breath-taking.

That they support the liberal tenets of the Democratic party is an added plus.

They link people to ideas in their role as entertainers.

And they do a damn good job of it.

42. The act of endorsement is not what makes them
celebutards. The belief that anyone gives half a shit about any opinion they have about anything is what makes them celebutards. Celebrity worship is no reason to vote.
