Well, today I saw them collecting signatures to split the Calif. electoral votes
Edited on Sun Nov-25-07 10:49 PM by PlanetBev
They were at Target in the Thousand Oaks/Newbury Park area and I'm sure they got plenty of "vote against their own interests" idiots to sign it. I got so upset, I could feel my blood pressure go up.

I swear, if this gets on the ballot and it passes, any discussion about which Democrat can win in '08 will be irrelevant.

In other words, Game Over.

3. They used the old "fairness" line
I didn't stick around long, because I was afraid I would either injure someone or have a stroke. I must have had quite an expression on my face, because someone asked me if I was allright.

9. I really threw it to the person collecting signatures up here in Northern California
Told him he was selling himself out to a bunch of crooks who wanted to manipulate the election

What the Democrats should do is put a counter proposition on the ballot, saying that, only if all other states have proportional electorial counting, then, and only then, should California

It would invalidate their bill if both propositions win

4. A Co-worker Of Mine Signed It
because they told her it would end the electoral system and every vote would count. They even told her Gore would have won if it would have been passed earlier. Good friggen grief!

11. No offense but your co-worker isn't particularly bright, since it only has to do with California
Frankly, I am becoming more convinced that America deserves exactly what it is getting

An unending war based on a lie

A worthless dollar

Rising food and energy prices

record foreclosures and bankruptcies

and the type of leadership we have had for the past seven years

If a repuke wins, and the supreme court goes with the federalist society, screw it. If that happens, stupidity must pay a price, and it will for decades to come

19. Actually, She Is Extremely Intelligent
Used to be a math teacher. I almost choked when she told me. I am sick of all of these petitions outside of stores in CA. Why don't people go home and study the issues before signing? They never even ask me to sign them. Perhaps I have the look too.

I am with you. Maybe Americans need to learn the hard way. Too bad we have to go along for the ride.

I think it's called the California Courage Campaign. They are working hard to expose these fuckers. I plan to contribute a few $$$.

7. This is the rat darrel issa(sic) who is involded with this. The only way it makes sense
is if the WHOLE country does it. Of course, that isn't what the pukes want, they only want the states they can gain from

I agree with you, the idiots signing it are probably the ones who will votes against their own interests

Just like the wonderful red states. A large portion of those idiots voted for bush TWICE, and are losing their young people in Iraq, having their jobs off-shored, and having their homes go through forclousure, i.e. Florida the most blaring example

We will see what 2008 brings, but if they put another repuke in the WH, they deserve exactly what they get

The unfortunate thing is we don't, but that is the way the system is

Personally, I think it will get on the ballot, but it won't win, and with all the money they are spending to do it, they will have less in the general election

8. Why aren't more people talking about this?
This is the first I've heard of this. All the banter about candidates and horse races don't mean a hill of beans if this comes to fruition. What are the chances that this split happens?

13. Why did people vote for bush twice? Why do they sign go put propositions on the ballot
because they are STUPID, and don't understand the question

Remember Barnum said a sucker is born every minute, and we have our share

Now, let me give you my outlook

I think it will get on the ballot, just because you can get people to sign almost anything. However, if the DEMOCRATS DO THEIR JOB FOR A CHANGE, and start talking about it, there is no way it should win

In fact the Democrats should put up a counter measure against this proposition, and start collecting signatures for it

12. I haven't seen one in my area yet
I live in southern CA and I haven't seen the petition yet. I was approached to sign a children's health care and I told them I absolutely would not sign the electorate one. The worker's answers shocked the bejabbers out of me. They told me the issue was dead and I told them it wasn't. They were also registering people to vote. Somebody needs to orientate the workers better. It's going to suck if this gets on the ballot. I don't have faith in people like I used to. They don't read and will have no idea what it means.

collected. They don't have to understand the issue and they will say anything to get signatures.

if Democrats do their job

18. My concern is that the pug primary has a chance to be meaningful
It's possible they won't have a candidate by California, so pug turn-out could be higher.

But I worry about a lot of things!

20. Actually it could get interesting in California. We have an open primary
which means if you can request to vote for either the Democratic or repuke ballot. Propositions will be on both

If it looks as though the Democratic race is already determined by the time it gets here, I might consider getting a republican ballot, and voting for either hukebee or thompson in their primary, since I think they stand less of a chance against our candidate then guiliani

Don't know yet, still thinking about it though

If you are going to do that, I'd vote for Ghouliani...he really has no chance. Especially when all the shit hits the fan, and it will....make no mistake, he will be exposed for the crook that he is....and it will probably be during the GE, if he makes it that far...

I am just concerned that the "so-called" reagan democrats might vote for the ghoul. faux is sure pushing him

I hope you are right, i.e., that the shit hits the fan on him, but I still don't see the MSM really pursuing it to any large degree

31. Trust me, they will...
It will most likely come in the form of swift-boat ads, from the fire fighters in NY. I would also suspect the democratic nominee would go after him hard...I don't know anyone who likes him...the only ones that do, are those who haven't been paying attention....but you've got the adultery thing, the Kerik thing....the firefighter thing...the drag queen thing...lots of things can, and I'm sure there is more to come out, and it will ruin him....I'm waiting until someone puts an ad out there with him in drag, and he's done it more than once...so it would definitely not play well, when people see him dressed like that more than once...

Ghouliani for president, 2008

Peice of cake....LOL...stick a fork in him...he's done...

29. Thanks for the correction. Still means they want it to be in place for the general election
actually that gives us more time to counter it. Unfortunately, it gives them more time to collect more signatures, and mislead people

Appreciate you setting me correct on that, sorry

21. I don't think so, but even if your premise is true, we should take preemptive action
so we aren't fighting this on the defensive

In other words, we should try to get our own initiative on the ballot that counter acts this one

and Demographically in the large cities, that is mostly true, but the picture in the the valley, and south of L.A. is more mixed

34. It wouldn't work as long as it's illegal at the federal level.
That's why California's medicinal marijuana law is disregarded by the DEA, and they raid state legal pot supplies and harass patients.
