1. He really doesn't know what he's in for.
His "why can't we all just get along" theme is depressingly naive.

2. The thing is, some of the stumbles he's had would be fatal in the GE.
Being played by Novak?

Good Lord! That should tell us something right there. I'm sure it told the repukes something.

I think it would be a disaster.

26. Poll needs 'would do OK' or 'as well as any other' - but I voted 'eaten alive'.
I agree with what New Hampshire voters said in the latest WMUR/UNH poll.

10. Underestimating? You don't have to shout to be heard.
the fact is that Obama can take care of himself. he knows how to cut an opponet without making alot of noise and hot air.
I do think we democrats worry too much about the republicans. We over worry as if they are some big monster and they know it.
We let our fear show all the time and it is why we also chose the wrong people.
We need to just go and do what we want and stand for our ideas without worrying over republicans.
To spend time this way shows how weak we are. All the candidates can take care of themselves just fine.
do not underestimate any of them

I'd like to see that battle with ANY of the Repukes running. Obama's crossover appeal with Independents and moderate Republicans is strong. These poll results are child's play.

And oh, aren't most polls showing Obama leading over the Republican candidates by a LARGER margin than Hillary? And Edwards too?

I, personally prefer a sampling of polls rather than one or 2 hand picked ones.

20. What does that show me? I said Obama and Edwards win by bigger margins.
I've seen multiple polls show that. And it's not just against Rudy, but others like McCain and Romney as well. I don't think Hillary is the most electable candidate we have, though I wouldn't mind her as the nominee. I just think she's a bit polarizing. Obama, at least, has a lot of independents and moderate Republicans supporting him. Obama, I'm starting to believe, has the best chance of winning, even though I'm not supporting him--yet.

24. We can NEVER have a black President.
Someone will ALWAYS assassinate him. Obama might as well just quit now. The right wing and the racists are ALWAYS in control and we can NEVER defeat them.

These are the attitudes being posted in this thread by many people.

Ladies and gentlemen, the other people posting in this thread (and I daresay the OP) are the careful, powder-dry Democratic members of Congress, represented by the Pink Tutu DLC Leaders below:

"Daddy Dubya's right...the Darkies are safer if they don't work for the Government!"

25. I don't think his race has anything to do with it - I think his inexperience and political stumbling
would be fatal in the GE.

When you are a mere candidate and can incite anti-American hatred in Pakistan with a simple comment; when you can be played by rw hack novak, you are not ready for prime time, imho.

Has nothing to do with the color of his skin. For me, at least.

28. It isn't racism. It's Democratic Party cowardice.
You are worried about Obama "stumbling." You believe only a candidate with media spin and control like Hillary Clinton, Bush's designated "good Democratic candidate," can win the election. But by winning the election, it's meet the new boss, same as the old boss, minus the penis.

Democrats are worrying about "how to win." They should be worried about losing their soul, which is what will happen if they feel they need money and "looking as much like a Republican" to win.

For that reason, although he doesn't have a snowball's chance in Hell of winning, I like what Kucinich did, calling the Democratic Congress a bunch of liars on the ending-the-war issue. He's what more Democrats should be like.

29. I like DK too, and I agree with you about his chances of winning.
But you saw what the repukes did to the Clintons during the time Bill was president. You saw what they did to Daschle and Cleland (and Wellstone, I am convinced), you saw what they did to Kerry. I just honestly do not think Obama is capable of withstanding or overcoming the dirty brand of politics they play. I mean, he just got played by robert novak, of all people. Yeah, we should nominate someone who represents the values of the Democratic party (and most of America), but we also have to nominate someone who can actually win.

30. Yep, it's the politics of fear
If we allow ourselves to buy in to the idea that our candidate must be just down and dirty as the republican machine, we will have become what we despise.

31. Anyone remember "frankly and boldly?"
It was said by Franklin Roosevelt in his inaugural speech:

This is preeminently the time to speak the truth, the whole truth, frankly and boldly. Nor need we shrink from honestly facing conditions in our country today. This great Nation will endure as it has endured, will revive and will prosper. So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself—nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance.

Being frank and bold used to be the hallmark of Democrats. Now we're worried about hedging our bets and choosing a candidate "bland enough to win."

Hasn't the last eight...hell, sixteen years...taught Democrats that blandness and surrender accomplish nothing? Are so many people for Hillary Clinton because they presume she knows how to duck?

And are we so cowardly we have to find a candidate who can't be attacked? Because, as Democrats, we certainly wouldn't want anyone aggressive who might be able to fight back?

What the hell kind of party have I been supporting all these years?

If you're mad at me or just pissed to see that name "HUSSEIN" associated to Sen Obama, then get ready to be mad and pissed all next year long if he is the apparent nominee.
