3. A Luta Continua! (Revolutionary chant from Portuguese Southern Africa)
Edited on Sat Feb-21-04 11:47 AM by Raya

A Luta Continua!

The Struggle Continues!

Don't forget that is the environment that Kerry's wife
Teresa grew up in. Her brother was part of the movement.

4. "Are you better off now than you were four years ago?" Plagiarizing
Reagan aside, this sums it all up.

5. "We can do it better!"
President John Forbes Kerry can do it better than Bush! A better occupation of Iraq, a better relationship with Ariel Sharon, a better Plan Colombia, a better NAFTA, a better WTO, a better PATRIOT Act, a better "free speech" zone, a better personnel change without changing policies.

A better coup attempt against Chavez in Venezuela!

13. Yep...we can do better
And... ya know what? The Majority...MAJORITY ... of Americans will believe it!

It will take time, probably about 2 years, to turn the ship-of-state around. And from day one of the new Dem presidency, we here will be fighting to turn the ship. We will once again have access to the wheel-house and those who stand in our way will be treated as traitors and made to walk the plank. We've only eleven months till we regain any control. Let us resolve to spend that time ensuring our ascension, and becoming prepared for that new day.

6. Keep the message simple
I think what Reagan did for the Republicans was brilliant. He did the following:
- He provided a moral framework for selfishness
- He used welfare to attack blacks and woo racists
- He attacked government as cover for deficit spending
- He simplified the message to three two-word phrases that even the casual, non political voter could understand: Small government, lower taxes, and family values.

If Kerry wants to win and change the country, he has to do the following:
- Use health care to challenge the selfishness of the right wing
- Call those who don't believe we need affirmative action flower children; accuse them of living in a fantasy land
- Attack a do-nothing government that allows people to go ill, our environment to go to pot, and our roads to deteriorate
- Match the Republican message with similar messages: Security net, strong government, and equal rights.

The Republicans elect simple people because they understand the importance of the simple message. If Kerry wants to be President, he has to have message that appeals to people who vote, but pay very little attention to politics.

7. "Remember, I fought in Viet nam"
NAFTA? "I fought in Viet Nam."

Corporate Power? "I fought in Viet Nam."

Iraq? "I fought in Viet Nam."

Gay Rights? "I fought in Viet Nam."

Kind of has a nice all-purpose ring to it.

17. I will stand up to special interests and stand with hardworking families
Edited on Sat Feb-21-04 01:10 PM by bigtree
". . .so that we can give America back its future and its ideals."

"In my first 100 days as President, I will revoke every Bush executive order that favors polluters and the special interests. My first major bill to Congress will be national health care reform, taking on the insurance industry to hold down costs and cover all Americans. I will repeal Bush’s tax cuts for the wealthy so we can invest in education and health care. I will take on the oil industry and make energy independence a national priority while creating 500,000 new jobs. I will attack corporate corruption and end the special interest feeding frenzy in Washington. And in my first 100 days, I will declare an end to the Bush policy of unilateralism and pre-emptive war."
