Poll question: POLL - Will you donate till it hurts? (or, whats it worth)
Edited on Sat Feb-21-04 11:30 AM by bigskydem
By now, we've all heard about the big bad b*s war chest.
The DEM nominee will have to stay in the battle with grassroots $$$.

Where do you fit in?

1. I donated to the primary candidate that I considered most electable
I refuse to donate to time, energy, or money to the Ham Sandwich.

2. Campaigns run on money
and I'll continue to support my choice, and the eventual nominee, even if he isn't my favorite.

3. No undecided option?
I've donated to Kucinich and continue to do so, but I'll have to wait and see who the nominee is and how bad the possible assault is before I decide on giving to them.

5. We are committing our gift budget
to the candidate that is chosen to run against Bush. My wife and I have told our 4 children not to expect Birthday, Anniversary, or Christmas gifts this year and we suggested they divert any gift money for us to the candidate of their choice as well. We will someday look back at this as the best gifts we have ever given.

6. I will give the maximum in the middle of March.
I have already contributed to three candidates.

For additional spending, I am waiting until after March 9, when the Democratic nominee will probably be definite. Then I will give the maximum.

7. I didn't vote.
I didn't vote because I donated to Dean, and only Dean and all other donations are unknown. Truth be told I'm as broke as a convict and really can't afford to donate all that much more and if I had the spare cash I'd probably donate it to DU instead. However, depending on the outcome of the Primaries and what happens between now and the convention I might donate to the Nominee. Although right now at this point it looks doubtful. Although if Kerry decides to shape up, give a better impression, and starts to wiggle back onto my good side I might "pull myself up by the bootstraps" and donate. At this point I'm more likely to donate to Edwards if he wins.

8. I contributed to Dean. Now, I'm waiting to see who the candidate is.
I'll decide my future level of participation once the candidate is chosen.

11. I will donate to the Democratic nominee
it disturbs me greatly, however, that it is likely this person voted for IWR which I consider unforgiveable.

12. I donated a large amount to Dean
but vowed not to give to any candidate that voted for IWR. That means Kerry and Edwards will not get a dime from hubby or I. Maybe our money will go to congressional candidates like Boxer or the Dem running against DeLay.

14. Most of my money went to Clark
I also donated to Kucinich, Dean, Graham, Edwards, and Kerry. From here out, I'm donating to Kerry in the presidential. I also donated to Ben Chandler in Kentucky and he won! I've donated to Charlie Rangel out of appreciation he was so staunch a Clark supporter. I'm donating to Mike Murray in Montana for the same reason. I'm donating to get rid of Tom Delay and to keep Solomon Ortiz in Texas. I'm donating everywhere it makes sense, like Russ Feingold in Wisconsin. These aren't large amounts, just what I can do. I live on a small pension, but I've given up every last thing I can give up to do this, because it is a national crisis. I'll give up more if I can think of more to give up. We have go to throw these bastards out wherever they are and whenever we can. Just fucking throw them out already!

15. I donated to Dean and will probably now switch to a senate race.
I am not thrilled by the presidential choices remaining. Bob Graham's seat is open and could get taken by a repug. I will probably concentrate my donating there.

16. I will give 'til it hurts!
Money is of little importance, when one considers the prospect of 4 more years of GWB. I will BORROW it, if I have to.

17. Kerry does not need my money
He has plenty of friends, demonstrated by Rupert Murdock's business associates..The right wing repugs. will abandon Dubya for Kerry for self preservation, because they know Kerry will not substantially alter what really concerns them. Issues such as Media consolidation and corporate monopolies.
I become convinced Kerry will vigorate the Justice Department to go after corporate monopolies, I will change my mind.
Unless he address health care, corporate behaviour and I am convinced he means it; he does not need my money.
Kucinich not president.Hope he continues speaking out on his issues. Maybe he will form some kind of foundation such as Wellstone's. Candidates can keep their contributions and apply them towards issues..I will give to Kucinich until it hurts.

Dr Dean's new organization and MoveOn. That wasn't an option so I didn't vote.

21. Um, no.
If the "vast majority" so want Kerry then they can support him. I'll be focusing on local party growth and managing a state House campaign. If we Deanies are such a majority surely Kerry could win the WH without us lifting a finger.

Besides, he can always re-mortgage his house.

23. I will not give .02 to the Dem nominee: let the establishment candidate
get his funding from his usual vested sources.

I gave the max to Dean and will continue to support any PAC's or 527's who continue his mission by electing Dean-inspired reformers to Congressional and state office.

24. None of the answers really fits
I donated till it hurt to my #1 choice. I will not donate again until a nominee is chosen. After a nominee is chosen, I will donate a substantial amount, but not till it hurts. I will also donate to Moveon.org, I will never donate to the DNC.
