Though heavily redacted, Plame reveals how the White HOuse and Republican led Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and ultimately a politically infected CIA screwed over Valerie and Joe Wilson. We all know they did this in the press, but what Plame reveals is the financial suffering the repub. gang of thugs did to them. Wilson's consulting business was crippled and the increasingly politicized CIA even tried to screw Plame out of money she was due upon leaving the agency and their extraordinary efforts to keep her book - and the income it could produce, of course -- from being published.
The events were so stressful, Valerie and Joe nearly decided to divorce. Their home life was a wreck and they suffered health problems brought on by the stress. Theywere afraid for not only their lives, but also their little twins'. At the height of their anxiety about safety, the CIA refused their request for round the clock protection. All because they were honorably serving their country and the cause of truth.
Yes, the Wilson's had some very rich, well connected friends, but ultimately the Republicans effectively destroyed their lives in D.C. No wonder they got out of the Washington sewer and headed for New Mexico.
I would advise you to read this book. What she cannot tell, as the redacted parts shaded black shows, is told in an "Afterword" by another author. Evidently, she could tell the "back story" that Val could not. It is heavily sourced and researched.
Ihope the Wilson's have made a pile of money selling their story's film rights. It should be another "All the President's Men."
