1. OMG, I forgot to turn C-Span on at 7:00 to see the Cuba program...
Ricardo Alarcon is on now at 8:30 p.m. I have met Ricardo Alarcon in D.C. at the Cuban Embassy. His English is 100% improved from the first time I met him in the 80's.

4. I have a lifetime connection to beautiful Cuba through my late...
husband; I had to go to Cuba in 1978 to bring my husband back home after an auto accident when he was injured with a smashed leg; he had a body cast and had to be transported in a wheelchair which was made in Russia; I still have it--the nameplate on the side of the chair says "made in the USSR"! It was quite an experience; we met Raul Castro at his farm. I have many wonderful memories of my visit to Cuba.

5. So do I.
:toast:

My heart breaks that we cannot just hop on a plane and visit friends and family there. :(

2. The Breckenridge Memorandum
Edited on Mon Nov-19-07 08:39 PM by Mika
-- The Breckenridge Memorandum
J.C. Breckenridge, U.S. Undersecretary of War in 1897,
sent the following memo to the Commander of the U.S. Army,
Lieutenant General Nelson A. Miles. The memo explains
what is to be U.S. policy towards {Cuba}.

We must impose a harsh blockade so that hunger and its constant companion, disease, undermine the peaceful population and decimate the Cuban army.

3. The United States was designed in a way that makes it fall into evil so easily. nt

6. Lincoln Diaz-Balart! Why is C-Span having those people on...
to speak about Cuba?

The young Cuban people in Florida of today reject this horrible republican right wing talking point that they are trying to get support for. It is time for them to go! The young Cubans in Florida reject the policy of the old Cuban exiles and they realize that it is a failed policy!
