Sunday's campaign event for Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden was about women, for women.
But, somehow, a man managed to steal the show. And it wasn't the Delaware senator.
"I don't know if you heard that rumbling earlier, but that was my father rolling around in his grave," longtime Republican Wayne Wagemann of Des Moines said to Biden during a question-and-answer session. "But this is the first time I've ever been to a Democratic meeting ... and you talk about a man of his word in your speeches. I will be at your caucus."

The event included endorsements by noted female Democrats. Talk focused on women's issues rather than Biden's key campaign issue: the war in Iraq. He discussed the Violence Against Women Act and the influence of the women in his life.

Citing Biden's consistent debate performances, experience and honesty, those in attendance were quick to point out that being a woman doesn't automatically equal a vote for the front-runner and only woman in the race, New York Sen. Hillary Clinton.
"Look at these women," said Julie Hill, 49, of Indianola, who attended the event at the urging of her mother, Bettye Coates, and said she left as a Biden supporter.
"These women are standing up and saying 'I want a candidate that represents me.' He's got a group of women that are strong and politically active here for him," Hill said.
