Congressional Vacations
This morning I was thinking that with all the vacations congress members get, it would be good for people to work in Congress at least one year. Then I began to wonder if the staffers get the same vacation time as the congress members. When the Congress members go on vacations do their staff members in Washington, D.C. stay and work through the vacation or do they get the same vacation time as the congress members?

1. Most of the staffers stay in Washington and work. Some go back

to the district and work there.

And most members of congress use the time to meet with constituents in their districts. That is not to say that there aren't junkets which are thinly veiled vacations at taxpayer expense, although some trips are justified. There is nothing to force a member of congress to do any work at all during adjournment; but most feel it is necessary to stay in office.
