How did the "Draft Clark" movement start?

This is my take on the whole thing

I first got to know him from his CNN military analysis. Clark was not afraid to question the politics behind the Iraq invasion or the military strategy. He was obviously a brilliant man. I remember when the Iraq war started, I watched it every single night, I couldn't NOT watch it. I prayed for the soldiers and for the innocent Iraqis.

Clark always seemed to be trying to tell us something, (hey what the fuck are we doing here?!?!) At the same time he gave expert opinions that often conflicted with the statements coming from the pentagon.

Then he did the talk shows in the summer (June, July, August). I watched the videos of all these political shows. He was very impressive. He lambasted the President and his foreign policies. He spoke eloquently about foreign policy, civil rights, and our economy. I saw that he could be the President I was promised as a child. He was very sincere. He was not a politician. I spent a week studying his positions and his experience. After that, I had no problem supporting him for POTUS.

I guess thats probably not what you were looking for, but I wanted to tell it anyways. :)

During his commentary, Clark always went to great length to actually explain what was going on. He spent lots of time relating that to what could happen next. It was his common sense explanations that put me at ease. To me, he tried to base his campaign on that - explaining what could happen as the result of different sets of choices. I MISS HIM TOO!!!

Another thing that I liked was that he seemed to be willing to listen and converse on a variety of subjects. That was refreshing to me as well.

The Draft Clark movement started when Hlinko and Margulis saw Clark on tv as a commentator. They were impressed by the guy and read a bunch of articles speculating about a POTUS bid, then they started draftwesleyclark.com last April. I first heard of the site a month later.

Didn't Margulis (or one of them) know Wes Jr.? I could swear I heard that somewhere, but I can't find links to prove it.

And by the way, the Democratic party should buy Wes Jr. a pad in a Repulican district and get him into the House ASAP. The guy is a natural.

6. There's a lot of talk about that whacko judge

Roy Moore running, the guy who fought about the 10 Commandments in Alabama. He thinks the Repugs are not conservative enough, & we're all going to hell in a handbasket. Whatever!

But he's an egomaniac who has political ambitions.There were posts here earlier today that Roy Moore for Prez websites have been taken.

But, he'd be great! The Fundies love him; he's to the right of Jerry Falwell & Pat Robertson.

8. And There Ms. Diane Templin

Templin, a California attorney, is the ultra-conservative American Independent Party's candidate for President. Templin dresses up as the Statue of Liberty for her campaign speeches, outdoing the flightsuit schtick. She's 100% anti-abortion, 100% pro-gun, wants to establish a permanent National Guard presence on our border to conduct maneuvers with live ammunition, is for the privatization of the school system, and profoundly opposes any gay rights. Like George Bush, Diane Templin speaks to God. She described the way she decided to make her Presidential run: "I thought of a verse in Isaiah, the Old Testament, and it said: 'Who will I send and who will go for me?' -- and I said, here am I, Lord, send me." Templin said that she would only belong to a political party that "acknowledges God as creator and the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior" and she describes her campaign platform as: "I support Biblical and Constitutional Principles of Life, Liberty and Property."

This lady is whacked, but very entertainingly whacked. I'm surprised she isn't getting more media attention for running the extreme of extremes right-wing fanatical campaign.

12. April - Moveon primaries - Clark got 5000 votes

Iremember because it stung me. I was trying to draft Gore who only got 500 (both in the "other" cathegory). I had no idea whi this guy was - CNN being banned in my house since the coup.
After that result, I dropped Gore and eventually found out who Clark was.
