and the Natural Resources Defence Council- among other sponsors. Kucinich, Clinton and Edwards showed up. This was an opportunity to focus on alternative energy and the environment. I don't want to hear excuses from those that didn't show. In my book, it's a mark against them. And kudos to the three that did go.

2. Uhh...
Edited on Sat Nov-17-07 09:10 PM by 1corona4u
when was it?

Maybe they had other engagements...and don't even try to suggest that Biden isn't for alternative energy...and actually, this is a lame topic. They can't possibly show up for every event. I bet both Clinton and Edwards showed up to upstage each other....

7. I like biden. and I wasn't even thinking that
he doesn't support alternative energy. I know better. I actually try and know what I'm talking about, while you, evidently, prefer to talk out of your, uh, hat. Both Clinton and Edwards did a great job. It was an important debate, sponsored by some of the most prestigous evironmental organizations. Three of them managed to make it. The others should have. And pissing off the folks who support NRDC and LCV is just dumb. This wasn't just any event.

6. I am not happy that Biden missed this.
He has an excellent record on environmental issues - one of the highest rankings of all the candidates.

This could've been a great forum for him to debate.

Guess Iowa was calling.....

8. Well, since the OP....
failed to tell us when it was, or even post a link to it, who knows when it was. I can find nothing on it, either in the news, or the NRDC website. I'm sure there's a good reason Biden was not there-whenever it was.

14. Well, all I know is...
he left Vegas to go back to DC to vote for the funding, which was yesterday, then this was posted on his site last night;

Latest News
The Bidens are Coming Back to Iowa
Joe Biden is coming back to Iowa for an 11-day campaign swing taking him all over the state. He’ll be joined by his whole family in Des Moines for Thanksgiving.

His trip starts tomorrow with a ‘Woman for Biden’ event at the Fort Des Moines Museum and Education Center, where he will be joined by Delaware Governor Ruth Ann Minner and several Iowa legislators who have endorsed Sen. Biden. On Monday, Sen. Biden will attend a house party in Iowa City and on Tuesday, he will hold an energy and environment press conference in the Iowa City Area. On Wednesday, Sen. Biden and his family will be in Polk County attending a meet and greet at the Sugar Shack in Altoona and a South Side house party at the home of Rep. Bruce and Betty Hunter. Non-perishable food items will be collected as Biden for President food drive.

And this about the vote;
Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton, Joseph Biden and Barack Obama flew back overnight from Las Vegas, Nevada to back the bill.

So I guess he just couldn't squeeze it in. It doesn't in any way change the way I feel him, or about any of the others showing up. As I said, Hillary was probably just there because Edwards was...Kucinich....well, maybe he went to visit Shirley too...

I think this event was planned long before this debate.

16. I'm sorry to hear Biden didn't participate. I'm not offering any excuses or
reasons - I just wish he would have (and it would have benefitted him politically).

Other than that -- how did it go? What did you think of the other candidates' platforms? Thanks.

Biden was with his supporters in Wilmington, Delaware at his huge birthday bash,given by his family and campaign staff.

Not an excuse, just a fact.
