Biden going for it in Iowa!
I am seeking the Democratic Party's nomination for president because I believe the people of Iowa are looking for a president who reflects their values, who speaks the truth and who will restore America's moral leadership.

We must start by ending the war in Iraq......

All our talk about war with Iran makes it harder for the moderates in Pakistan to work with us. And it adds to the security premium we pay for oil - as much as $30 a barrel - taking money from American pockets and putting it into Iran's coffers. Nothing could be more self-defeating.

We need a president who knows that all the dots are connected and who has the depth and breadth of experience to solve these problems........

At home, the next president will have to act quickly on the domestic issues that have been willfully ignored by this president.

It is shameful that the wealthiest nation on Earth fails to insure nearly 11 million of its children.

Not one single child should be without good health care. Not one.

I plan on being the Education President. Not only because my wife, Jill, is a teacher, but because the lack of emphasis on education by this president is undermining our ability to compete in the world.

We must fund quality programs like Head Start and provide states with the necessary support so every child has two years of preschool before they get to kindergarten.

And we must fund two years of college. Last year, 400,000 kids who qualified for college were unable to attend because they could not afford it. College must be affordable for every child.

On Jan. 3, you have an opportunity to restore America's greatness by selecting a person who can take on these problems, who can unite this country and end President Bush's failed policy in Iraq.

I am confident that my 35 years of building coalitions on major issues, of leading the Democrats on foreign policy and veterans' care, of fighting for civil rights and civil liberties and of standing up for the middle-class have prepared me for the challenges ahead.

Iowa's Democrats have the privilege of recommending the right person to replace George Bush. I believe I am the right person for these times. With your help and God's blessing, I am confident we can achieve greatness again.

Go Joe!

2. How's he doing in Iowa??

Not that there's a flawless way to measure.

I see him as a straight-talker, and that should go over in Iowa.

Here's to hoping that changes soon

4. Just added to my last post that...
Biden seems like a straight-talker, and that should go over in Iowa.

My dad will only go for a straight-talkin' politician and he thinks Biden is our best bet.

6. I'm with your dad - my dad was the same way. Tell me the truth - I can handle
it -- it's the bullshit that tears me apart.

In response to your previous post, my observation is that Biden is doing better and better in Iowa, and I'm hopeful he'll make a STRONG showing in January.

I THINK I'm being objective in this assessment -- I'm trying to be, anyway.

7. How about universal single-payer national health?
It's time to drag the Unites States into the Twentieth (sic) Century.

8. One step at a time.
First we have to convince the gopers that we need universal healthcare.

they put them on the table.

10. $$$$$$$$
But then again, the media still ignored Ron Paul after he raised all that money.

12. Biden makes a lot of sense and is the most electable in the general election...
...small wonder he is relegated to "second tier" status!

We have to remind ourselves that it was the media who decided who the first tier was a long time ago.

16. Exactly
Just like the CNN debate. After the actual debate they have a "Top Three Campaigns Respond" segment. It included Axelrod (Obama), Wolfson (Clinton) and Trippi (Edwards). This is so blatantly unfair as to fall into the "fixed" category.

14. Joe Biden looks like a WINNER to me . . . . & the GOP will have difficulty smearing him. . .

15. Agree. Both points you make are true, IMO. He looks and sounds like
someone who can bring a very significant electoral college victory and at the same time, someone who fights back if the Pukes try to smear. Which of course we expect them to do.

Biden's a tough customer. I don't see anybody in the Republican field at all who can hold a candle to him.

17. if the gop tries to smear him it would be before the primaries....
...they could spread stuff, and the followers of Biden's Dem opponents would likely take the bait. The Reps could get us to fight their battle for them.

They would only do this if Biden looked like he had a chance, however.

I do not share the belief that the Dem nominee will automatically win thils time. The Reps are lousy at running a government, but they are good at getting elected. And if that doesn't work, they are good at being selected too.

All three of the top tier are worrisome to me for the general election. Especially Hillary. But Obama and Edwards have their weaknesses as well.

I would like to hear more about Biden. I haven't decided yet, but he is one of those I am looking at.

18. I think Biden is the candidate the republicans fear the most.
When all my bills are paid in the next few days, I'll send him another pittance. He's a straight shooter & has the leadership abilities we need. He's our best hope for cleaning up the mess the puppet & his evil master have made. He has the ability to work with everyone, dems & repubs, & we really need that now.
