Ladies and gentlemen, the next president of the United States
Folks, here is the only Democratic candidate on the stage last night who can win the presidential campaign bin 2008:

http://blog.johnedwards.com/story/2007/11/15/201012/05

John Edwards is the real thing.

John Edwards speaks from the heart, clearly and without fear, even when the stakes are high and stacked against him.

Last night, John Edwards rose above the party politics and spoke for the American people.

He did not speak for himself. He did not speak because he wanted to prove something or be somebody or make a point.

John Edwards spoke from a source higher than himself -- for the American dream -- for us, for the common American men and women who make this country great.

John Edwards was under attack last night. The questions posed to him were intended to trip him up, to make him feel uncomfortable and insecure, to make him hem and haw. Under pressure, John Edwards came through. He is the candidate to trust under pressure. No other candidate has shown that he knows how to go to his or her spiritual core to say and do what is right when it really counts -- when being ridiculed and put down and pressured.

John Edwards is the candidate with the moral strength we need in America right now.

If we Democrats do not nominate John Edwards in 2008, we will not elect another president for 40 years. Our party will be just a memory, and so will the populist movement and our democracy with it.

Until I saw these tapes this morning, I would never have thought I would be saying this, but here goes: It's John Edwards or no one. Forget the other candidates. John Edwards is the only Democratic candidate that can win in 2008.

7. Someone needs to
Populism has a real chance at winning the hearts of Americans, provided the message doesn't get skewed by our lapdog media.

34. Nominate Edwards and our party is toast for the next 40 years.
He'll get such a whipping from the GOP he'll make Mike Dukakis look like a winner.

and the very message that the corporatists do NOT want getting out.

6. I think he did just great last night.
waaaaay better than Clinton, but not as good as Kucinich (even tho Dennis was given such a small piece of the pie time, he came out a winner nonetheless in my eyes). Edwards is very charimatic, articulate, bright

John would easily be my second choice if not for that Iraq war co-sponsor move. That's just too big a speed bump to 'get over'. and it saddens me.

16. Thanks. We need to show solidarity behind Edwards.
He is the answer for America. We need a leader who stands up for what he or she believes in and who can speak our dream. We need a leader who is not intimidated by money or power, by vice or corruption. Edwards is that leader. I hope you will work for the Edwards campaign. Thanks. I'm doing what I can, although I am in California and our primary is not early enough to make a difference.

but I wish he would quit it with the war stuff.

Please! I want a top tier that opposes further war and opposes voodoo economics!

17. The best way to avoid further war is to elect a person
with strength, democratic values, integrity and the ability to negotiate. John Edwards has all those qualities. He speaks so eloquently and intelligently because he studies and learns and works at informing himself and speaks from the heart. That is what he has been doing as a lawyer for all of his life. He knows how to prepare for a fight. Of the candidates, Edwards is the most likely to be able to resolve disputes and protect American security without using force. Richardson is a good negotiator, but Richardson has always negotiated as the emissary of someone else. As a lawyer, Edwards negotiated many settlements. There is a moment in negotiations in which you have to decide, "Is this offer good enough, or do I take the risk of going to trial, or as president, going to war?" You have to weigh the risks and benefits. You have to way the costs and the potential worst and best scenarios of the outcome of a trial or war. Edwards has made that kind of an evaluation in split seconds over and over. And it is that split second decision -- that weighing that means war or peace for our nation. Edwards is probably the candidate with the most experience practiced that final decision: make peace or fight. He will be able to stay level-headed and not get carried away by passions when confronted with anger and threats on the other side. That is why I think he is actually our best bet on a peace president.

You mention moral strength, I agree completely. He also has the ability to re-establish the reputation we have lost throughout the world. My hope is that he can overcome the ignorance of the MSM. K & R

18. The MSM is not ignorant. The MSM knows exactly what its
owners and sponsors want. And the MSM is responding to what its owners and sponsors want. You and I have to advocate for John Edwards. We need to talk to our neighbors. Sign up for One Corps at the local campaign level. Make phone calls. Walk your precinct. Set up a table at local events. That is how we can get John Edwards elected. That is the meaning of public finance. Public financing of campaigns puts the onus on ordinary citizens to get active and work for the candidate they want. We have to get off our fannies and get on our feet and work to make John Edwards the next president.

But, that said, I am already doing what you suggest and have been since the beginning. I think it will be the best way to fight the msm and show them for what they are.

21. He's my guy!
I'll be seeing him at a Town Hall in just two days. Can not wait! I've voted in every election since 1980, the thought of voting for my number one choice is just amazing. For the first time in my life, I see a chance to not "settle" when I'm at the poll, and I plan to do everything I can to make that happen.

If you work for a living, you must support Edwards.

22. I recently decided to go with Edwards...
Edited on Fri Nov-16-07 03:03 PM by TwoSparkles
I was undecided, because I was waiting for a Gore run.

When you really listen to Edwards, you really like him.

He's a true Progressive. He's the only Democratic candidate
to take on the neocons and to actually say the word "neocon."

He understands that corruption and corporations are rotting our
system of government. He wants to change that.

Edwards was away from DC for a while. He could have returned to
a very lucrative legal career or started a consulting firm and
made a ton of money. Instead, he chose public service and running
on issues what would lift up and give hope to the poor, the middle
class and all citizens who care about democracy and civil rights.

I am convinced...the more people who hear Edwards speak--the
more his support will grow.

He's the real deal. He gets what BushCo has done and he's not
afraid to take them on.

you need to inform yourself if you really believe that if the dems don't nominate Edwards, we'll lose the general election. What nonsense.

Edwards stired up the shit right along with Obama, as a very wise woman said last night "if you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen".

If poor little Edwards does not want to get attacked, he should keep his mouth shut.

He is as real as they get. He really supported the IWR, now he really doesn't. He really supported trade deals with China, now he really doesn't. He really has supported both sides to virtually every single issue he discusses.

39. I am an Edwards supporter but I believe if the American public
gets angry enough and informed enough about the issues and our candidates' stances on them, almost any of our candidates can beat almost any of the nimrods currently courting the lunatic RW fringe. I will support any of our candidates who gets the nod wholeheartedly.

It would help if our corporate media did a better job of presenting the information that people actually need. Maybe they could paint some facts on a Photoshopped version of Matt Damon's t-shirt while they tell us how sexy he is.
