The not Hillary or Obama thread
As a partisan, I looked at tonight objectively, and here's what I saw through my obviously distorted POV:

Joe Biden: He kicked ass, and looks very presidential. His campaign should definitely push his deep foreign relations experience. He'd make a dynamite Sec of State. I loved his comment "Hell, no, I wouldn't support any of these guys"

Dennis: What can I say: I loved everything the guy said, and he projected a more serious image. He's got some pros behind him who distanced him from the UFO thing. Good strong performance. But seriously, Kooch can't close this deal.

John Edwards: what is it with him? I really love his "two Americas" message. Something about him came off strong yet ...off? I appreciate his anti-Hillary attacks but maybe he's not the guy to deliver this message? I dunno.

Richardson: this format is absolutely not his thing. He makes complete sense, is for total withdrawal from the Mideast, Has deep foreign policy experience (Bush owes his ass to this guy for negotiating the peace with Kim Jong-Il)He's got the right idea regarding energy policy and was a crucila advisor in Clinton's cabinet. His licenseing program for undocumented workers has produced real results. What's not to like? I'll tell you what: he's got zero TV presence, which is the opposite of seeing him in real life. Did good, but his numbers won't move I bet.

Dodd: his TVQ is just not there; he comes off like a school principle lecturing a bunch of truants. Deep experience, good ideas, but this race is all about change, and you won't find a more ossified candidate from DC than Dodd.

So that's my take. Of all these guys, I think if there's a need to broker the convention, Biden might come out on top. I mean, I know what he is, and I find much of his corporatist viewpoints annoying, but he's pretty straight up about them. In spite of this, I like him. He's definitely electable.

3. Well, Dennis had 5:37 to make his point(s). Seems fair for America, right?

4. Interesting observations you make. I think you saw it the way I did.
Biden just kicked ass and this is the second time, too.

But, I love them all.

You were a bit too hard on Dodd, though.

The thing I liked the most is how our crowd really does answer questions, for the most part, while the GOP group are all bumper sticker sloganeering.

Thanks for your observations. I think you were objective in your comments.

And to add this about the other two:

Obama was very articulate and informing when he spoke. That helped him.

Hillary did come back from a poor performance last time. She is still the one to beat.

5. Thanks David
I agree Hillary did great tonight. Obama , considering this is just NOT his format, did equally well.

I thought it was hilarious that some here thought when people booed the republicans , they thought that Obama was getting booed.

6. OK ... here's my take
Edited on Fri Nov-16-07 02:25 AM by The Traveler
Biden -- agree with everything you say. But, if doesn't get the nomination, he should not be SecState. He is simply too valuable in the Senate.

Dennis -- Kooch can't close the deal? I suspect that is correct. But Kucinich can and has at least gotten his ideas out on the table again. Richardson was recently talking about an Apollo like effort for energy development ... that is an old Kucinich idea, finally now being considered by the main stream ... now that we are past the 11th hour. To my knowledge Kooch has not even mentioned that little bit of plagiarism ... it is like the guys is thinking "OK. Someone has that ball, which means I can work on this one ..."

Edwards -- His problem is a Senatorial record that seems at odds with his passion. Fortunately, he seems to be going with his passion. He has a record since his Senatorial term, too, and it ain't a bad one. Win or lose, Edwards will make contributions to the American body politic for a number of years. Edwards is my first choice, but I would be a whole lot more comfortable with it if he combined forces with Kucinich.

Richardson and Dodd --- agree.

** Edited to fix a typo or three **
