Senator Clinton's only memory of the NAFTA debate is a series of charts,
Bush looked for WMDs under tablecloths.

As someone whose town has been devastated by jobs moving overseas, I ask you to compare and contrast these two comic routines.

7. Clinton got lots of points tonight by 'not' being picked on. Think about it.
But she just really can't help herself.

13. John got a little dig in
with the "planted question" at the beginning. I forgot about that. He wanted to 'remind' everyone of that. If we could have only read Senator Clinton's mind after he said that.

4. no that is twisting what she said. Her only memory of the debate
was a series of charts. And it made me laugh, because that was what I first thought of when Wolf mentioned the debate with Gore and whatshisname.

12. here is the deal babylonsister
I am not necessarily for Clinton in this election. I actually started out for Kucinich. I became very vocal in my opposition to the horrific-hatred-and-constant-unreasonable-ugliness with regard to Clinton. It is not progressive. It is superficial throw-back from the 90's when the neo-cons and the vast right-wing conspiracy attacked she and her husband at every turn (which is what they will attempt to do to the next democratic president).

I am not sure about who I want to be president. I like Biden, but I have trouble with the whole Anita Hill thing and how he handled it. I don't think Obama is strong enough to be president or even win the general election.

I love Elizabeth Edwards, and kinda liked John at the beginning of this process, and if you look at my posts will see that I was sticking up for him. But, I don't like the negative campaigning, and he turned me off.

I don't think Kucinich can win, so even tho in every test of my stance on the issues, I am right there with Kucinich, I have to back someone who will win.

So, now I am re-thinking Biden and Clinton.

But, I will continue to defend Clinton on this "progressive" board by those who have irrational hatred of her.

15. I don't think there's much irrational hatred of Hillary on this board.
That statement demeans the vast majority of disgust over her connections, and her staff, to corporations. It also ignores her very poor choice of words of late. Just my thoughts on what you said. And like you, I absolutely ADORE the great inspirational leader that Elizabeth Edwards presents herself to be! She's awesome, I'd vote for her over John, hands down. I feel between Obama, Clinton and Edwards - John is my easy choice.

17. Look at the posts tonight--a majority of them are not rational
(actually tonight is not a good example because it appears that a majority of the Clinton hate posts are by one very irrational person). But, generally there is some vile stuff being said that bothers me. There is also some talking points repeated that are superficial and inaccurate.

21. I will say I'm not on every night and don't read but a few hundred posts
a night when I'm on, so I will take your word. What I've noticed has been, majority wise, pretty spot on. But, yes, I know there's some posters on here who are more like posers, sadly.

19. OK, thanks. You continue to back your candidate, while
I can't abide her. 'Nuff said here. I wish Kucinich could win, and if my vote matters at that point, I will vote for him wholeheartedly.
Next vote for me depends on who does well. I would absolutely consider Biden or Dodd, but I don't see that happening.
Back to the 'big' vote. For me, it's between Obama and Edwards, and Obama is winning in my head. I'm still undecided, but that's where I stand. And unlike you, I've never actively cheerleaded for anyone; I post interesting articles at times. And there again, there are some I wish I'd never seen.

10. MR. BLITZER: All right. Senator Clinton, all of us remember

the big NAFTA debate when your husband was president of the United States, and a lot of us remember the debate between Al Gore, who was then vice president, and Ross Perot. Ross Perot was fiercely against NAFTA.

Knowing what we know now, was Ross Perot right? (Laughter.)

SEN. CLINTON: All I can remember from that is a bunch of charts. (Laughter.) That sort of is a vague memory.

14. Yeah THAT moment's gonna play well in Iowa and New Hampshire and South Carolina!
NAFTA's just a big joke to Hillary and she's gonna "evaluate" it if she ever gets to be President.

That probably lost her IA and SC right there!

16. That flippant response bothered me as well.
In my opinion, the spectacle of Bill Clinton twisting arms, making pork deals, and blasting labor unions on national television to push NAFTA through a hostile congress was the "jump the shark" moment of the Democratic Party. I remember in 1988, an ad for Mike Dukakis had a working man saying "If you want someone to have a beer with, call a buddy. If you want to protect your job, vote for Mike." The Democratic Party wouldn't have dared run an ad like that in the wake of NAFTA, and that's a pity - the NAFTA debate could have been a great populist winner for the Democratic Party during a period of economic anxiety (similar to how we gained politically during the 1980s farm crisis) - alas, it was not to be.

IF NAFTA had never gone through??

But if Hillary enjoyed making light of it, what more needs to be said??
