"Since 1991, Biden has been an adjunct professor at the Widener University School of Law, where he teaches a seminar on constitutional law."

And the question becomes, 'does a fetus have rights' ? ... to go beyond the questions mention re Rowe v. Wade on the right to privacy.

Ask THAT and watch the fun begin ! Then it boils down to the rights of sperm vs egg in the final debate.

13. It's not that long a document. We should all know it well. Shame that we don't.
Now, of course, understanding all the legal ramifications of it may require some heavy thinking, but we could at least get started by reading it and knowing it.

We each got tote bags, t-shirts, luggage tags, pens and a pocket Constitution.

Pretty nice swag for Mr. Debi appearing on a 1/2 segment of the show :P

40. I still have the little pocket Constitution they gave us in Basic Training.
I've read it several times, and refer to it ALL the time.

It is simply mind-boggling how many people have not taken the time to read it all the way through, even once.

(I am including DUers, btw.)

3. Ya know you have a point
Everyone of them ought to be able to quote the constitution verbatim before being allowed to take a seat in congress (or be sworn in as president). Seems like that's the least we should demand.

26. Juan and Lon were talking one day...
Edited on Thu Nov-15-07 10:34 PM by EVDebs
(That's Lon Simmons for you non-Giant fans) ...and Gaylord Perry happens by having just pitched that day. Lon asks Gaylord what pitches were working for him and he says,

"Well, my slider was good and my curve was so-so, but my spitter..." He catches himself and Lon starts laughing...KTVU then goes to a break.

"Despite Perry's notoriety for doctoring baseballs, and perhaps even more for making batters think he was throwing them on a regular basis--he even went so far as to title his 1974 autobiography Me and the Spitter--(co-authored by Cleveland baseball newspaper writer Bob Sudyk, ISBN 0841502994) he wouldn't be ejected for the illegal practice until August 23, 1982, in his 21st season in the majors. Perry also reportedly approached the makers of Vaseline about endorsing the product and was allegedly rebuffed with a one-line postcard reading, "We soothe babies' backsides, not baseballs." Former Manager Gene Mauch famously quipped "He should be in the Hall of Fame with a tube of KY Jelly attached to his plaque."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaylord_Perry

also see

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spitball (the stuff on Gaylord is in 'history)

They don't make 'em like that anymore. Or maybe not. Giants fans still love Barry. And life goes on.

25. Hi, pirhana. Not to worry. The mainstream media aren't nearly the factor
in the caucuses that they are for the more general public consumption of political news.

Around this time in 04 the MSM were writing Kerry's obit and Edwards was scarecly mentioned. Those two finished first and second and of course became out eventual ticket.

Biden has come from around 0 into a forward-moving higher-by-the-week single digits. Were Gov. Richardson to falter, Biden mght surge ahead. I think he did himself a world of good tonight by offering remarks that would do the world good.

And after 7-8 years of this administration, we need all the good we can get.

30. Don't know about memorized, but he *comprehends* it
Once while channel-flipping, I came upon some interview with Biden where he was talking about the fourth amendment. I've never heard another politician talk about it with his depth of understanding, particularly in regard to how it is a bullwark against tyranny. He gets it. It's not "just a fucking piece of paper" or a bunch of rules that you have to follow.

32. Once again the other candidates were agreeing with Sen. Biden.
"Like Joe said...," "I agree with Sen. Biden...," Joe has it right..." Undoubtedly, Joe Biden is the best qualified candidate to be POTUS. The Democrats would be nuts to pass this opportunity by. He was the only one on the stage last night who never wavered on his responses, even if they were always the ideal response to make to a room full of Democrats, but sometimes what is best for the country is not always what seems best for the Party. Joe Biden continually proves that I'm supporting the right candidate to lead this country.

50. Debi, I'm going to kick this thread in the name of a public servant who
asks for the public's trust on foreign policy and who has actually earned it, as opposed to George W. Bush and the rest of his adminsitration, who have squandered our international standing with our allies and ruined the lives of so many nameless (to us) Iraqis.

Biden is my second choice for president. But the differential is thin indeed.

He's a good man.
