6. Here's the Hillary-Grunwald-Penn insult...
Edited on Tue Nov-13-07 04:49 PM by jefferson_dem
At least two of Hillary Clinton’s upper-echelon advisers, Mandy Grunwald and Mark Penn, were decidedly unimpressed.

“Our people look like caucus-goers,” Grunwald said, “and his people look like they are 18. Penn said they look like Facebook.”

Penn added, “Only a few of their people look like they could vote in any state.”

8. Thanks-from your link: "Only a few of their people look like they could vote in any state."
Hardly a compliment.

11. Now why would Hillary insult young voters?
http://dyn.politico.com/printstory.cfm?uuid=2662965D-3048-5C12-00B7299D9C02AE94

Now if you want to talk about insulting the GLBT community, or baby boomer's, theres no innuendo there, we know who has done that and it wasn't Hillary.

13. Because her camp couldn't stand the fact that Obama had more supporters there than she did...
Edited on Tue Nov-13-07 06:34 PM by jenmito
so they had to try to belittle them by saying, "Only a few of their people look like they could vote in any state." And then they try to tell us it was meant as a compliment??? Don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining.

Where is the new claim?

10. Damn - I hope they aren't trying to take it back.
I liked that the Clinton campaign finally played the age card because Obama has shown his little ageist problem from the beginning.

Who is standing up for us old people? I thought Hillary was - now I don't know but I want someone to represent me.

15. Of course they're trying to "take it back"...
and Obama hasn't shown an ageist problem. He said he doesn't want to keep re-fighting the fights of the '60s.

18. If you were an early boomer you would read/hear
his crap differently. The fights of the 60s aren't over so which ones does he want us to quit on - I guess all of them? He got what he wants apparently.

20. So, let me see if I got this right -
you want to control the thread.

I made a comment about Obama being an ageist - you responded with a poor defense. I responded back and now you want to clean up the thread cause you don't like where it has gone.

Are you on the rules board of DU - do we have a non-deviation policy?

I just don't care much about Obama not wanting to fight the old fights. I'm not a baby boomer and I don't think he's being ageist.

22. Just saying it does not make it so.
You don't walk in my shoes and don't understand the resentment of those who put their life on the line so that one day bright young people of any color, gender or preference could stand where he now stands.

His problem is that he doesn't understand who and what helped him get to this day. He does not need to acknowledge it in anyway - he just needs to stop insulting us.

23. I don't think he's insulting you at all...
He's always talking about how what happened in the 60s allowed him to get where he is today. He's simply talking how politically he wants the country to move forward...not FORGET the past.

24. It is not your place to make such an assertion.
In the beginning I was an Obama supporter. Last February I began to read his views on the 60s, on "turning a page", on "getting over ourselves", on his assertion that the old activists needed to put it away. I was shocked and hurt. I made contact with old friends who it turned out were following this as well.

He broke our hearts. And then (believe me there are a lot of us) he made us really angry when he threw the GLBT folks under the bus as well. To us he is not a leader - he is a poser.

26. I'm allowed to do so...
and I disagree with your OTHER assertion that he threw the GLBT folks under the bus. He speaks out for gay rights all the time. His voting record on gay rights is stellar (almost, since he, like the other front-runners, isn't for the term "gay marriage" although he wants to give same-sex couples who have civil unions the over 1,200 rights they presently don't have.

Let me put it another way. You may not tell me what to think about my own life and my own experience. You are just as arrogant as the person you support.

12. It was not only an insult towards my generation, it was an insult of the entire Netroots.
Because the netroots is dominated by us folks of the Millennial Generation. My generation's internet activism is scaring the hell out of the Corporatist DLC Establishment cronies.

16. Yup, which is why, once again, she's "clarifying" what they said. But they did NOT mean it as a
compliment which is made clear by the original quote. She must think the young people are all stupid, too.
