1. John Edwards is not Joe Lieberman
He'll stay in the party and bide his time until 2012.

Edwards Clarifies Comment On Hillary: "I Fully Expect To Support" Dem Nominee
By Greg Sargent - November 13, 2007, 2:13PM
Today at a press availability John Edwards was asked by reporters about his refusal to say that he'd back Hillary for President if she wins the Democratic nomination. The Edwards camp has just emailed me his answer:

"I fully expect to support the Democratic nominee, and I fully expect to be the Democratic nominee."
"I fully expect" to support the nominee -- not quite "I will support." It's more than, "I'm not willing to talk about that at this point," which is what he'd said earlier. But it's still not a full commitment to backing the Dem nominee.

Not sure what this is about.

Late Update: A number of commenters below say that this is a sufficient answer from Edwards. Fair enough -- I probably am guilty of overparsing here.

But -- to all the commenters screaming "bias," please understand that the Edwards campaign sent us the above quote. They wanted us to post it.

6. Not much better...
C'mon John how about a straight answer...after all that is what you criticize Hillary for not giving all the time...

What happened to all the straight talk?

7. Not much of a clarification if you ask me...
Not sure why he can't screw up the courage to give a straight answer on what should be a simple question...

After all doesn't he criticize Hillary for the same sin?

He sprung fully grown from the earth, fighting the evil forces in Washington and Wall Street from that day forward!!!

Except the 6 years he spent in the Senate as a DLC Democrat, co-sponsoring the IWR, working as a trial lawyer, voting for right to work laws, opposing universal health care, and making half a million working for a hedge fund that foreclosed on homes in Katrina ravaged New Orleans

And as usual, you are reporting a non-story. Nice work. Who is Mark Penn?

9. Some newbie lessons.
A) Post your replies to the posts you are responding to instead of to the OP (original post)

B) Wait more than 2 minutes before expecting a reply.

13. You are right, I am new here.
And I want to thank you for your help. And I want to thank you for pointing out the obvious in front of everyone. Attacking, in both an upfront and in person way, as well as in a kind of sneaky "I'm smarter than you way" is something you have proven to be very good at. Thanks again for all the help.

11. Once again, he's running to win. In politics you are a winner as long as you are running.
This is a BULLSHIT conversation.

17. Not silly. If it's out of the realm, then why won't he commit to supporting the Democratic winner?
like any other loyal Democrat would?

18. He would be prohibitted from doing so in many states.
Many states have "no sore loser" laws that prohibit a candidate that loses a primary from appearing on the general election ballot as an independent.

unless you only need around 500 or less.

21. No. I don't think he is crazy enough to.
He shouldn't. He should let the DEMS speak and if he doesn't get the votes he needs to do all he could to support the nominee.
