The real reason Kucinich will never be president
I was a Hillary supporter, but I have moved to the Kucinich camp for the primaries. I know he will not be the nominee but I want to give him my support.

Why will he not be the candidate:
His short stature? We all know height = power in our shallow media crazed world
nah, we can get past that
His UFO sightings? Heck no...that guarantees him the southern vote and Reagan fans..they were all into astrology and crap
He is too liberal? Even better, he will get the votes of all those who voted for Nader

Nope its because of his wife

Is it because she is younger? Nope
Is it because she is taller and hot? Nope

Its the tongue piercing...
Our country is in no way ready for a First Lady with a tongue piercing...although if Hillary had one we may have avoided the whole lewinsky mess.

Can you picture any of our First Ladies with one? Pickles? Barbara Bush? Nancy Reagan? There are way too many people with giant sticks up their asses who will say that this is too much!

but then what do I know....
Rock on sister

2. I hear what you're saying...
And I understand it well...

And how I hope you're wrong!

It's not as though she's sticking it out all the time, or really at any time!

It's not really visible...

And she's very intelligent...

Time will tell, though...

:hi:

3. Oh, yeah, absolutely ...
I was a staunch DK supporter until I found out about wifey's tongue-stud. No way that's gonnna fly.

What if he's the president and, say, he's in the middle of a photo-op, after a whole shock'n-awe thingy with a Mission Accomplished sign and all, and the lighting is at a certain angle, and the photographers' get a shot with wifey in the background, and the setting sun is reflecting off her tongue-stud -- and oh, my god, what could be worse?

I mean, okay, like what's more impordand? A man's vision for his country, or his wife's tongue jewelry?

Like, think it about it, okay?

I'm hoping against hope this isn't necessary, but just the same:

:sarcasm:

5. hey now...
would we have been as offended by Barbara Bush's comments about Katrina victims if she had a nose ring? Jewelry makes the First Lady.

our elections are not based on ideas and visions, its all on media sound bites and crap...everyone is more concerned about "electability" instead of why they should be elected. I was for Hillary because of that...then I actually did research on the candidates and time and time again, Kucinich is my candidate.

9. Huh!?!
I don't think Babs' comments would have been acceptable whether she had a nose-ring or not.

Jewelry makes the First Lady?

I guess we'll have to stop revering women like Eleanor Roosevelt - too damned busy working tirelessly for the betterment of her country to have bothered with anything more exciting than a string of pearls for state dinners!

Yeppurs, give me a preznent whose filly knows how to accessorize when the goin' gets tough.

(I'm embarrassed to admit that I have, in the past, been known to vote for presidential candidates without having demanded full disclosure of their wives' jewelry box before casting my ballot. Oh, woe is me ...)

that my post was sarcastic?

Jewelry makes the first lady? You cannot possibly believe I was serious....

That my whole point here is to point out the shallowness of our media and society?

I didn't add the sarcasm smilie because I did not think it was necessary

man, I forgot I was posting in GDP instead of the Lounge (I am used to a sense of humor there)

12. If your intent was sarcasm, I missed it.
And I apologize.

Guess I'm a bit trigger-happy these days - what with the constant infiltration by people who shouldn't be here.

I'm sure you understand what I mean.

17. you caught me
Yes I named it elf. No matter how much I support Kucinich, he looks elf-like to me. OMG I am a freeper and did not know it.
I also have named photos in my photobucket account "dork" for my husband, "fatass" for one of our dogs, "eek" for one of me.
Clearly I do not love my husband, my dog or myself because I attach nicknames to them.

Let's try this again... PLEASE REREAD MY POSTS
for fuck's sake... I am SARCASTICALLY commenting on the shallowness of our society.

18. It matters to me because it would mean DK is as naive as I think he is

when it comes to running a campaign. Too many older folks would view this as weird. I'm all for candidates (and their spouses) being their true selves, but if a candidate's spouse had a tongue stud, I'd say he was clueless about running a campaign. Wife won't remove the tongue stud? Just how badly does she want him to win?

I have a live and let live mentality about such things, but personally, I don't find tongue studs attractive. I simply find them very distracting. Many people in this country would still find a tongue stud much more than distracting.
