Obama unveils plan to revamp nation's bankruptcy laws
BETTENDORF, Iowa (AP) Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama is promoting a package of ideas he says are aimed at halting growing income inequity.

The proposals include an overhaul of bankruptcy laws, and tax breaks to make college more affordable for the middle class.

Obama appearing in Iowa says the goal of his package is to reverse a growing trend in government policies favoring the wealthy. He tied together some proposals he'd already offered with a new focus on bankruptcy and college costs.

Obama says he would reverse recent changes in the nation's bankruptcy laws which he said favored credit card companies over consumers. He wants to see new protections for those who go into debt for medical expenses.

1. Obama's plan is almost identical to Clintons, only less generous
Like Clintons, it relies on tax credits, which Obama supporters criticized when she proposed it.
