15. Blue on blue
Blue in a blue state. I think the voting for a RW third party is a good idea. I don't think I could pull the lever for anyone but our Democratic nominee this time, but it's really a good strategy.

2. Blue is Dem, right?

I suppose you are still using the Democratic color for the last two presidential elections instead of the '04 election. The incumbent party is always shown in blue on election night. So when you see the South lighting up Blue on election night, don't get too excited.

I just learned this yesterday and felt compelled to show off my now vastly superior knowledge. :)

3. There's gonna be some color hysteria soon
Some fool Neo-Con is gonna forget he lives in a red state, think his state is preparing for an imminent terrorist attack, blab the lunacy on hate radio, and empty grocery stores of bread and milk state-wide.

Too much risk with Nader in the game.

I'm voting for the ham sandwich we're about to be handed.

6. Same here.
My state only went blue on the recount. And our Secretary of State doesn't listen to BBV-ers. She thinks they're all nuts.

Strange, I always loved ham before.

7. Vote Libertarian or Constitution!
If you're in a hopelessly red state, vote Libertarian or Constitution!

If one of these two parties gets 5% of the vote in November, they'd end-up with matching federal funds in 2008 AND media attention. With such media attention, they'd end-up pulling a chunk out of the GOP vote in that election cycle.

Please consider this. And for those living in swing states, please vote intelligently. The future and the world are depending on us.

8. other
I'm not sure. Unless Georgia suddenly becomes a contested state, or the nominee convinces me (wouldn't take all that much at this point), I will at least consider a third-party vote.

17. Allen, I've got tons of Green friends
I learned a long time ago that it was far better to try to build my (Democratic) party than to try to convert Greens.
I feel that the Greens are noble and are working for what they believe in. I have not yet given up on the Democratic Party, the Greens have.
I find that it is easier to convince non voters that they should vote and vote Democratic. That is the future of our party.

19. Wouldn't Your Green Friends Find It Ironic That Their Actions
Edited on Fri Feb-20-04 10:58 PM by arwalden
are actually driving the Democratic party more to the CENTER (and quite literally FURTHER RIGHT) to recapture other voters. As we seek out to replace the defectors with centrists and moderate-Republicans, the Democratic party becomes even LESS of what they hoped to achieve.

Their behavior is having the opposite effect that what is intended. How ironic... and how sad. A group that bemoans their fringe status does nothing except that which GUARANTEES and cements their continued fringe status.

They have become caricatures of all their own worst traits.

-- Allen

Edit: PS... you have a positive attitude... that's hopeful. Keep fighting the good-fight.

20. We are getting somewhere now, Allen
The Green voter in 2000 was more likely a disenfranchised Democrat than a Green party member. In my city, Nader received 253 votes, yet only 22 voters were registered Green.

I classify Greens in to the following groups, "persuadable" and "pure".

Kucinich, Dean, Braun, Sharpton, Kerry and Clark picked up most persuadables. Kerry can keep them in the party, perhaps.

The Pure Greens understand that we exist in a two party system, and hope to replace the Democratic Party. The Democratic party dies when it is overpowered by the Greens or when it is merged or absorbed into the Republican Party. (This would also lead to a Conservative Party.) The destruction of the Democratic Party is necessary for a Green party to be viable in America.

the Green Party platform is more in keeping with what I consider basic human values, but if the race is close in my state I'll vote Democratic--with a heavy heart.

21. Ham sandwich for me
Deep in the heart of Texas.

I have a lot of issues with the Democratic Party as it exists today. But I know of no other party that represents me, imperfect as that representation is. And I think that in the long run many of its problems are fixable.
