Terry Mcauliffe holding his ground on AWOL with Wolf right now
Edited on Fri Feb-20-04 12:21 PM by NNN0LHI
Wolf is really trying to put an end to the bush was AWOL story but Mcauliffe won't give an inch. I can see why Fox news was promoting a web site for people to sign an online petition to get rid of him. He kicked Wolfs rear end as usual. Go Terry.

2. I Guess There Is An Occasional Downside Of My Refusing To Watch Cable News
That sounded like an interesting interview. I'd love to read a transcript if they ever put one online. (Thanks, Don.)

3. Yea...Terry
Seen it...Terry will not back down from the AWOL claim...says bush was not there..Wolf Wolf says the commander or such seen him and had "lunch"(?).....Terry says there are many who were in the unit that DID NOT see him...is it okay for the National Guards men now to say "we do not want to serve and we'll be back in 7 months or so? Good one Terry!!!

11. RIGHT....
Bush's files show that he did not even apply for reassignment to the 187th in Alabama until September so what was this Guardsman talking about seeing Bush in May?

7. My email to Wolf:
I just watched your interview with Terry MacAuliffe and the way you defended Bush was remarkable. I guess if anybody ever questions my character or whereabouts for 8 months in the future, I'll just point to today February 20, 2004. Why? Because I have a dental appointment today and this will be the ONLY evidence that I will release to prove I was in Portland, Oregon for 8 months. Today's "journalists" should be renamed "suckers" for buying everything the Bush Administration says without doing any follow-up.

10. Do I understand you correctly?
Fox News is promoting a website to get rid of Terry M?

Wouldn't that be like democrats trying to get rid of assface Gillespie? What kind of sense does that make?

If I understand you correctly, their stupidity grows more outrageous with each passing day.

14. The Ground Is Laid In This Matter, My Friend
It is not going to go away.

It has already had a great impact. Statements by many that it is not or should not be an issue are reminscent of the many people who disclaimed any interest in Mr. Simpson's murder trial, while its television ratings soared; they reflect what people think they ought to say, not what they really feel. This thing strikes to the heart of the reptile's credibilty; it undermines the carefully cultivated image of a just folks sort he trades in, revealing him a mere bounder and pampered rich kid, the sort the people who are wont to vote for him hate worse than anything in their hearts. People know the charge, in broad outline, is true; he did not really perform his duties, he was cut acres of slack no ordinary fellow would receive, and he did it all to keep himself out of the jungle where the bullets flew. He is revealed as a contemptible coward behind a paste-board cut-out of courage, and nothing more.

People will think of this, and will be led to think of it by Democratic Party agitators, when the enemy tries its vaunted attack lines against Sen. Kerry's past opposition to the war. Sen. Kerry demonstrated tremendous courage, both in the battle and in the political protest of the war, and the contrast will be both striking and edifying. It will be impossible to attack his past actions without calling to mind the cowardice displayed by the jackanapes he is opposing now.

"LET'S GO GET THOSE BUSH BASTARDS!"

17. link - Interview With Terry McAuliffe
http://www.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0402/20/nfcnn.03.html

<snip>BLITZER: Button up the whole AWOL issue for us. You made a strong accusation the President was AWOL when he was in the Texas Air National Guard during the period of months when he was serving in Alabama.

MCAULIFFE: Right.

BLITZER: We've now gotten all these documents, hundreds of pages released by the White House. Everybody has gone through it, all the major news organizations. We see no smoking gun evidence that he was AWOL at all. So the question is, was it a mistake for you to make that accusation against the President?

MCAULIFFE: Absolutely not. And as I remind you, that was a response to an attack on Senator Kerry, where I answered that question that we will not stand around and let these people attack our potential nominee or any of our candidates. They released hundreds of documents. None of them showed that he was in Alabama when he should have been in Alabama. snip

MCAULIFFE: If he showed up for a weekend to get free dental care, you know, big deal. He was there for seven months. Wolf, it goes to the credibility.

BLITZER: Well, wait a minute. The whole issue is that there's a colonel who was there who says he remembers seeing him, having lunch with him at least half a dozen times when he was serving in the Air National Guard in Alabama. Is that eyewitness testimony not enough?

MCAULIFFE: The New York Times last week had 10 people who were in his unit who said he wasn't there. His own commanding officers, both commanding officers, one in Texas, who was a family friend, guess what? He said, "I never saw him." This was a family friend.

18. Wow, I don't know that I've ever seen Terry "stand his ground"
The couple times I saw him, he retreated from the most obvious and egregious lies told by Racicot and Gillespie, respectively.

From those, I've never had a good opinion of him. We need fighters, not retreaters.

But if what you say is true, perhaps those instances were abnormalities, or perhaps Terry is learning that you can't back down from Totalitarian Scum.

Either way, well done Terry!
