Bob Graham open to VP slot

TALLAHASSEE -- Sen. Bob Graham dropped out of the presidential race last October, yet said Thursday he's open to accepting the vice president slot on the Democratic ticket.

"I want a Democrat to be elected president," Graham said following a lunch address to the Economics Club of Florida. "If I can be, in whatever way, a contributor to that, I will do it."

Asked if that included serving as vice president, Graham said: "Yes."

The Democratic front-runner for the party's nomination, Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts, said in December that Graham would make a solid running mate.

"Sen. Graham would make a great vice president but any discussions on a vice presidential pick are premature given that we're all still running in a primary," Kerry spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter said Thursday.

State Democratic party chairman Scott Maddox predicted Graham would deliver Florida's 27 electoral votes if on the ticket, saying his expertise in domestic security and intelligence would prove too attractive for voters to ignore.

"There is no one more steeped in domestic security and intelligence issues than Bob Graham," Maddox said.

2. Cool
I'd love to see the final Dem Candidate have an entire cabinet pre-selected by late summer - this would help knock down the BS line of "we can't change administrations when we are (endless) war"

4. Bob Grahm
is a good guy. I appreciate the fact that he voted against IWR. If he could get us Florida, then we can afford to lose Iowa, and NM, which we won by very small margins. Of course, we know that we're playinga rigged game there..
