Edwards accuses Bush of exploiting 9-11
February 20, 2004 -- Democratic underdog John Edwards kicked off the battle for New York yesterday with A-Rod quips and a charge that President Bush is trying to "exploit" the 9/11 tragedy at this coming summer's Republican convention here.

"George Bush and his team - they think they're going to exploit this tragedy for a few days at their convention," Edwards told a crowd of 1,000 at Columbia University as he sought support against front-runner John Kerry in the 10-state Super Tuesday primaries on March 2.

Edwards, buoyed by Tuesday's strong second-place finish behind Kerry in Wisconsin, is making New York a top priority.

But a new Marist poll last night said Kerry is backed by 66 percent of New York Democrats with Edwards at just 14 and Al Sharpton 7. The Feb. 17-19 poll has a 5-point error margin.

tour. Show them for the sleaze they are.. the repukes should not be cheering the deaths of thousands of americans and getting away with it. Those people were americans too and they didn't die for king George's re-election campaign!!

(or did they?)

4. You just wait
Karl Rove will pull some scanky female out who will claim to have had sex with Edwards.

They haven't even started with Edwards. I predict March will be destroy Edwards month.

15. Yeah, that is why Edwards will now be killed in the polls....
and stay off small airplanes! You are unelectable if you question the surroundings of 911, either what went on before or didn't, what happened that day or any of the aftermaths of it. Dean opened his mouth to some truths and was taken down and Kucinich has not been able to get the coverage because of his stance and questions on it.

Did anyone see the T-shirt that the "Media" that was covering Dean gave to him when he stopped actively campaigning, (he did not withdraw, so if he was your choice, vote for him!)? It said on the front "Establishment Media" and on the back "We Got The Power"! :wtf: Very bad taste, but so true!

Kerry was chosen and all others must be got rid of. Kerry now has Secret Service protection......

What Primary vote?

"THOSE WHO CAST THE VOTES DECIDE NOTHING, THOSE WHO REPORT THE VOTES DECIDE EVERYTHING." to paraphrase Joseph Stalin :nuke:

10. So he's finally getting around
to using Clark's talking points. Well, I'm sure Wes won't mind, as long as it helps the Dems to beat Bush.

11. Here comes the rolling of eyes.
Dean, Clark, Kucinich, and Sharpton have all said something like this before. Trust me, Clark wasn't ever original. I dug the guy, but sorry, he just wasn't.

Later.

13. Clark is the only one to hit BushCo for letting 9-11 happen
Edited on Fri Feb-20-04 12:36 PM by Chris
The only one is, by definition, 'original' and alot more. So much for trusting your flat-out wrong analysis.

Tagging BushCo with negligence in preventing 9-11 is alot more serious than the safe, almost pandering criticism at this point, of Bush exploiting 9-11 after the fact. Especially given the media worship of the 9-11 rubble-rouser who 'grew' into the mantle of an heroic lying warmonger.

Clark challenged BushCo and the media's myth in a HUGE way. Edwards by comparison is just latching onto conventional BushCo criticism. He isn't even in the same league with Clark.

12. Well, yeah.
"Freeodom" Just say it and it will sound good. War on this, war on that... When will we solve problems instead of fighting wars against them?

14. "We have already written the Democratic Platform"
Howard Dean.

and so has DK, and Rev AL, and Gen Clark.

They should all get a place at the convention...

16. Thank-you
I am so glad that someone has the balls to finally point out that GWB has used 9/11 to justify every mistake he has made.

Bad economy? Not my fault, blame 9/11.

Went to war? Not my fault, scared by 9/11.

Deficit spiraling out of control? Not my fault, 9/11 spending on "war on terrorism"

Bush has used 9/11 for everything from saying God picked him to lead us through these trying times to a war of aggression that people predicted would occur before he was even in the White House. He and Karl Rove make me nauseous everytime they throw 9/11 in the preface of every crap thing they do.

17. Right on!
I love it when any of the candidates call Bush* on his shameless exploitation of 9/11 and its victims.
