How much money is being spent to push the idea that Hillary is a done deal?
Maybe I am wrong but from talking heads, to polls, to blogs, and to the media
the idea that Hillary has it locked up seems to me like a planned effort.

At this point in 2003 Joe Lieberman and Dick Gephard were just being replaced
by Dr. Dean as the front runner.

Please remember it is not a "done deal" and all this bullshit about we have to
close ranks around Hillary because of the Supreme Court is just that bullshit.
Not a single vote has been cast and yet "forces" have all but put the crown on her
head and a small army has been pushing the meme that Hillary has it in the bag.

Remember "The Wizard of Oz" because the "all powerful one" might just be smoke &
mirrors.

1. If you don't know how much money, how will any of us?
You are obviously the one with special knowledge of the inner workings of the political media bribery conspiracy, not me.

9. well, here's a hint:

A better question would be :
How much money has Murdoch spent undermining our formerly informed media?

18. Yep. Answer: Doesn't matter; Rupert Murdoch has lots more to keep spending
Seems likely any TV talking heads who don't want to burn some bridges may be reluctant to say anything Rupert dislikes.

Rupert has his candidate and media has their orders, it would seem.

3. to be honest with you
I've seen more people on DU "crowning her" -- before beating her with said crown -- and accusing her of thinking it's a done deal than I've seen Hillary or anyone in her campaign do. If she assumed she was the Nominee, she wouldn't be working as hard as she is in Iowa or New Hampshire. She wouldn't be still be shaking hands and kissing babies and doing all the things a politician has to do to introduce themselves to people.

I think this "air of inevitability" is something her opponents (and their supporters) attempt to tag her with to engender a sense of anger in people so they WON'T support her. I've never once heard Hillary boast that she's got it sewn up and it's a done deal.

Quite the contrary, she's a smart enough person -- and politician -- to recognize her work is doubly hard as the alleged "front runner".

Just my two cents.

4. The same networks that WANT all those political ads are crowning ...
the one with the MOST CASH to place those ads. Sickeningly predictable. It has NOTHING to do with votes or what the people want -- it's all about GREED and advertising dollars for GE, Disney, Viacom, Murdoch et al.

10. I posted almost the same thing some days ago.
People don't seem to understand that it's much more about money than ideology. A Hillary Clinton nominee means one helluva lot of $$$$$$$$$$ for the media.

It's clear that the msm wants to manipulate the dopey American public into thinking that she's the frontrunner so they'll jump on the winning bandwagon ~ but it's not so clear why they're doing it, or whose money is being spent.

14. Randi Rhodes addressed this...
Edited on Fri Nov-02-07 05:53 PM by shoopnyc
...the media FIRST focused on who raised the most money...that ended up being Hillary. The reason for this, by her observation, was that the money raised goes mostly to their industry, THE MEDIA.

And, if you remember, Howard Dean's great accomplishment was the fact that he was able to utilize the internet as a fund raising tool and raise a ton of money.

In hindsight, I realize now that the media could have cared less about Dean's possibilities as a nominee, (just began following politics then for me). They only cared about the money he had, and how he got it. I'm sick now...

15. I dunno, but it's probably Republican money.
We need to try to remember what tactics the Republicans used to solidify their candidates ahead of time.

Times have changed a lot. Now the campaign season is two bloody years. This really changes everything. Anything could happen over the next six months.
