Hypothetical: Edwards gets the nom, and its time to select his running mate.
(I know a bunch of things have to happen for this to become likely, and looking so far ahead is silly, etc. etc. So just put all that aside)

Would Biden make a good VP running mate for John Edwards? Biden has the two most important characteristics that define a successful VP candidate, in my opinion: he would be a great attack dog/advocate on the trail, and I don't think there is any doubt that he has the ability to step in and be president immediately should something happen to Edwards. There isn't a great deal of regional variety, but that doesn't seem to be as important anymore. Nor is there a unique state that Biden could deliver, but that too, seems to have fallen by the wayside (Cheney wasn't supposed to deliver Wyoming, Lieberman wasn't supposed to deliver Connecticut, Edwards was unlikely to deliver North Carolina).

The only thing that would put me off is that championing the bankruptcy bill would be pretty discordant with Edwards message of economic inclusion. Other than that, they seem ideologically comfortable enough.

So in your opinion would this hypothetical pairing work?

4. Dodd works better for me than Biden
He served in the Peace Corps (despite his political connections, he cared enough about the underdeveloped world to volunteer for a project like that), he's taken tough stands in the Senate despite the fact he's running for president ... and he and Edwards did a great job together last night going after HRC over the drivers license question. Hey, maybe Dodd could convince Edwards to change his mind about legalizing the ganja (!!!).

3. Edwards-Obama is the can't lose ticket. Edwards-Clark is also good. Edwards-Richardson isn't bad.

7. Edwards Obama sounds good, but I prefer the Veep not be a senator
for several reasons. One is simply that our margin is not that great and who knows if we get another Dem to replace them. Secondly I think these folks have really learned something first hand about what America wants which could be put to use in drafting and passing legislation.

11. Obama would replaced by a Dem
Governor Blacojevich (D) has a deep bench of heavyweight Democrats in Illinois that he could appoint and that could fend off any Republican challengers.

9. If Edwards wins
My dream ticket would be Edwards + Feingold or Edwards + Kucinich, but alas too many sheeple follow M$M garbage and discredit DK for honestly believing he saw a UFO.

10. Hi, Heaven and Earth. Biden would make a good anything.
President, Veep, Secretary of State, and so on. If it turns out to be him in your scenario as veep, I'm all for it.

Other considerations for nominee-elect John Edwards might include:

Bill Bradley

Russ Feingold

Tom Harkin

Max Cleland

Bill Richardson

Chris Dodd

Kathleen Sebelius

etc
