Curious about who will be in the WH after 2008?
I've been thinking about the scenario of martial law and Bush/Cheney, et al., remaining in power. Originally, I pooh-poohed such an idea, but the more I think about it and with what I know about how they have run their term(s)in office, the more reasonable it sounds.

For instance...You know how secretive they are about everything they do...practically down to the menu for lunch. Well, imagine what is going to happen after the election and before the new president/vp take over. If it is a Democratic team, all hell is going to break loose. There is NO WAY they are going to give access to any of their papers, computer data or recordings. Expose their sneaky tricks to a Dem? I don't think so!

OK, then what will they do to cover up their shenanigans? There aren't enough shredders in the country to handle that load. Granted, they can destroy the computers (probably save all the "W"s from the keyboards first) and erase any tapes...or will they burn the whole conglomeration? They can't classify everything...there have to be some tidbits lying around...surely.

How do they keep the people quiet? What happens after this administration has left, if they ever do, and the stories start coming out of the woodwork? Will the bookstores be inundated with new releases? Is it going to be popcorn time for us, or will everyone be under a gag order?

Will the rest of us be living in a police state?

Just wonderin'!

1. I suspect the GOP learned their lessons about paper trails a long time ago.
As we saw with email a while back, I also suspect that anything electronic or on paper that they wanted to hide from prying eyes was done through the RNC and not via official White House resources.

2. With what the tried to do to Jill who blew th ewhistle on rove
in Alabama, burning her house to the ground and trying to kill her by running her car off the road, it is hard to tell what they would do to anybody who would try to write a book, or come forward about any of the criminal doings of those in the whitehouse.

3. I'm not familiar with that. Who's Jill?
Sorry to be so dumb, but I didn't have the luxury of DU early on.
