Edwards to cross 99-county threshold
Edwards to cross 99-county threshold
By O.Kay Henderson--Radio Iowa
Thursday, October 25, 2007

----
This is day two of Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards four-day swing through Iowa and at its end he will have crossed something off his "to do" list.

"I will complete my goal of reaching all 99 counties, I might add for the second time," Edwards says.

Edwards made stops in each of Iowa's 99 counties back in 2003, a threshold he crossed in December before finishing a surprising second in the Iowa Caucuses back in January of 2004.

"When I finished visiting my 99th county is when I started to gain significant momentum in the caucuses in Iowa last time and it was important for me to do this time so that every caucus-goer in Iowa knows that I'm asking for their support and I want to hear what their concerns about and I want to look 'em in the eye and answer their questions," Edwards says.

Edwards is making stops in Corning, Bedford and Indianola today. By the end of his four-day trip through the state, he will have visited 15 cities and towns.

"I'm not just campaigning in particular parts of Iowa and I'm not just campaigning in the places with the highest populations," Edwards says. "...I want to be the president that represents all 99 counties in this state."

Crikey, that's more than California and Oregon combined.

3. People like to know they matter. I think they will listen to Edwards respectfully and when
they do, they will hear a humble and presidential leader.

It is well past the time, that the poor, the struggling and the working class have a champion.

If we can pay for this stupid war, we can take care of our own. And John Edwards has been a consistent champion for the underdog, I pray he gets his chance to show us how it can be done.

5. He's going to reach a goal he's already reached?
"I will complete my goal of reaching all 99 counties, I might add for the second time," Edwards says.

The Edwards people are really desperate for stuff to say in their hourly press releases...

9. It's not that I don't like you, I don't even know you.
But since all you post is Edwards propaganda, and I have determined Edwards has 0% of getting the nomination, it makes sense to put you on ignore. Nothing personal, you understand....it's just that Edwards has become irrelevant.

Poof!

10. What an arrogant post! I would be more worried about Edwards if you LIKED him.
the character of a candidate's supporters and detractors says a lot about a candidate.

11. So much for freedom of choice!
"I have determined Edwards has 0% of getting the nomination" - calteacherguy

If you can predict the future with such certainty, and if you are so confident that Hillary will win the nomination, why even bother posting here on DU? :eyes:

Your foregone conclusion BS is an insult to everyone who is planning to participate in the primaries.

I guess someone should call Iowa and tell them to cancel their caucuses. Hillary has it in the bag! :eyes:

Don't forget - back in October 2003, it looked like John Kerry had no chance of winning the nomination.
