CNN: Romney takes on Clinton 'family values'

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney criticized the "family values" of the Clinton presidency Thursday, saying as president he would set a better example.

"One of the ways that you help instill, if you will, family values is by having a White House be a place that demonstrates family values," the Massachusetts Republican said in a response to a question at a New Hampshire house party about how he would instill family values as president. "And, you know, I think during the last Clinton presidency, the White House did not demonstrate that in a way that was helpful to our nation's culture," Romney added....

Romney went on to say that the president is under a "microscope," making it especially important to "live by higher standards." "Because the world is looking at you, you're representing not only yourself but your country," he added. "The kids or America are looking at you. One piece (of instilling values) is acting the part, acting the part of higher ethical standards."

Responding to Romney's comments, top Clinton adviser Howard Wolfson said, "Hillary Clinton needs no lessons on character from a man who switches his positions on a daily basis."

2. AND the AH is cruel to animals too! Remember his dog on the roof
of his station wagon for HOURS during their vacation trips!!!! Personally, I'd rather my President have a few girls on the side than mistreat animals! At least having the girls is not breaking the law!

3. Liars, Liars and Crooks
What hypocrisy. Why don't the Dem's finally stand up and ask how in the world is the government going to instill family values in people? That's only something the family can do.

They claim providing health care for kids is not the governments job, but somehow providing values for families is.

If the government wants to assist in that endeavor, the only thing that they can do is provide an economy with good jobs, so that dad may work and mom can stay at home, or visa versa. More moms have had to join the work force under Bush than any other president.

Not to mention war. How is that good for family values. Troops on extended tours, dieing.

Hypocrites.

4. I note that the Mitten-Head didn't mention ...
... the fine family values that have been demonstrated by the Bush family - like Barbie and Jenna's underage drinking and partying, Battle-ax Babs' tax-deductible "donations" to education that went to one of her son's companies, and Poppy's profits from the Carlyle Group thanks to the war.

"Because the world is looking at you, you're representing not only yourself but your country."

Yeah, we've seen how the Buffoon-in-Chief represents his country -- acting like an idiot in public at every opportunity, promoting torture, and vetoing bills that offer healthcare to kids, etc.

Funny how ALL of the GOP presidential wannabees NEVER refer to their guy who's currently in office - do they honestly think the voters have simply FORGOTTEN the past seven years?

5. Although I don't support Hillary....
I'm going to stick up for her just this one time.

Didn't Romney or someone in Romney's camp learn that everytime some right wing nutjob brings up the Clinton and "family values," they end up looking dumber in the process? Was Mittens in a coma in 1992 when the conservatives used the "family values" shtick like a cudgel only to be beaten back with their own stick?

There are many issues to debate Hillary Clinton on; family values isn't one of them.

not one of romney's sons is or has ever served in the military. Would that not be a consideration for a "value" of some sort? Lick my swinging liberal veteran cock romney. I served, my father served, my brother served, my wife served, my father in law served and by gawd all of us are(were) democrats. (Dad and Dad in law are deceased but were veterans who voted (D). Fuck you chickenshit chickenhawk whining value pukes.

9. First McCain, now Romney
why is it HRC supporters don't understand the point that her candidacy will be an unnecessary lightning rod?

The republicans are chompin at the bit to campaign against her.

She's a more important issue to them than the war. That should make one sit and think for a moment.

16. I'm not sure that's a family value
completely apart from her candidacy, I'm not sure looking the other way after repeated affairs is necessarily a good thing, or a family value.

That would mean keeping the marriage together requires abnormal amounts of denial or forgiveness.

IMHO

12. Answer me this Romney: What does this have to do with how
you plan to run the government should through some tragedy you become president? You know things like bu$h's war, runaway inflation, unemployment, health care. Relatively unimportant stuff to you, but that real people care about.

14. "Family Values"?
What about health care for families? What about families who live on minimum wage? What about LGBT families?

"Family Values" is about more than putting on a pretty show for the cameras, you know. It's about caring for people and preserving human rights for everybody.

17. He was responding to this: "How would you instill family values as President?"
Only in America do we see such a dumbass question inserted into a presidential campaign. And, unfortunately, it's exactly that kind of crap that cuts the Clintons the deepest.
