A response to Congressional Democratic wimpiness--my two cents' worth
Yesterday, I got one of those "opinion surveys" that's actually a begging letter. It offered three options for every question: the Republican option (e.g. Social Security should be privatized), the traditional Democratic option (e.g. Social Security should be protected), and the DLC option (e.g. younger workers should be allowed the option of personal accounts).

Anyway, in some cases, they didn't list any options that I liked, so I wrote in my own.

Then, to make sure that my response was not totally ignored, I taped two pennies to the section where you're supposed to tell how much you're contributing. I added a note saying that they weren't getting anything else until they started acting like an opposition party.

There are individual Dems that I support. When next month's money comes in, I'm going to be sending checks to a couple of individual candidates, especially local ones, who have spunk and gumption, but the national party is getting two cents and only two cents from me.

I don't know how much effect one letter like that would have, but imagine if A LOT of people did that.

I'm just sayin'...

Bush Success Rating at Historic Low

President Bush’s success rating in the Democratic-controlled House has fallen this year to a half-century low, and he prevailed on only 14 percent of the 76 roll call votes on which he took a clear position.

-snip-

A separate analysis of so-called party unity votes, in which a majority of one party votes against a majority of the other, showed the possibility of another historic first for House Democrats. So far this year, Democrats have backed the majority position of their caucus 91 percent of the time on average on such votes. That marks the highest Democratic unity score in 51 years.

3. I have to add a PS to this
The reason I shredded this piece of crap survey is....there was a request for money. This money is to help the democrats to get elected.

I figure, they take the money and throw the damn survey away. If they read and paid attention to the answers to any of the surveys we sent back. then they would

stop funding the war.
deny racist individuals confirmation
arrest rove
arrest gonzales
make rice testify
clean up the DOF

they have not done one of these things. And nothing here requires a majority vote and nothing here would require them to over ride the turd in chief's veto.
