DCCC attempting to screw another grassroots Dem
Cross-posted in Election Reform because of Clint's street cred as an election integrity activist.

The Race is on.

The DCCC has done as promised and recruited a candidate to run against Clint in the Primary. It is Suzanne Kosmas a millionaire and former Florida state house representative from Volusia County. One of our supporters from Volusia County put it this way in response to an article on the Buzz www.TampaBay.com http://blogs.tampabay.com/buzz/2007/10/feeney-v-kosmas.html:

"Ms. Kosmas has to get passed Clint Curtis, who has worked very hard in district 24. Ms. Kosmas refused to support local candidates in 2004 and 2006, stating that she was out of politics. Now she expects us to vote for her because she has the backing of DCCC and a few millions in her pocket. To me she is no better the Tom Feeney. She thinks she can buy the seat. Dream on! We the voters will not forget that she let her seat in the State House go to a Republican while refusing to support the Democrat." DN

Another supporter posted: "Americans must learn now, after the 2006 Dem 'win", that there is a considerable difference between Dems who follow the line of the K Street fat cat Dems, and Dems who are really progressive in their personal nature and beliefs.

Remember to vote for the truly progressive Dems, because only those will always vote in the best interests of the American people, and not the deep pocket Corporations who first bribe them and then own them. No one owns Clint Curtis. He wants to win for statesmanlike reasons only. He wants to fix what can be fixed for the benefit of all of us." AM Daily Kos and the (non) Kosmas Effect

A very interesting thing happened. Someone from her campaign posted a Diary on Daily Kos http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2007/10/13/01819/ that included the Push Poll below. ( A Push Poll phrases the questions to tell the participant what to think vs an opinion poll where the person tells the pollster what they think. Hmmm…Feeney just used this tactic with a ROBO call to District 24 last week as well.) Well, it backfired. Clint won 64% of the vote. With your continued help, we will win again in the Primary by 64% next September! www.ActBlue.com/page/ClintCurtis

Why are you glad to see Suzanne Kosmas run?
Because we finally have a candidate who can beat Feeney.
19% 11 votes
Because I want my Congressional representative to be tough and independent.
8% 5 votes
Because we need more women in Congress.
1% 1 votes
Not me, I think Curtis should go for the losing double.
64% 37 votes
All I care about is USF football. Go Bulls!

Campaign from Here

Our grassroots are strong and deep and not just in District 24 but across the nation thanks to you! We have a solid campaign structure in place and have been working hard. What is takes now is to keep doing what has made us successful in the past and to raise the money we will need to win. www.ActBlue.com/page/ClintCurtis

Success Track:

1. Keep spreading the word about Clint by sharing these emails. Go to Daily Kos and Recommend Clint's Diary and Post a Comment on the Down with Tyranny article so people keep seeing Clint's name out there. We want to drive them to the website to find out more about Clint and to donate www.ActBlue.com/page/ClintCurtis so we can get him elected!

2. Come enjoy getting to know some fellow Dems and help us canvass. Nov 3rd the DNC is sponsoring a House Party with a Canvas immediately following. The date was chosen in anticipation of the election in '08. Howard Dean will be calling into the host's house with a conference call at 10:30 AM. We then will go and do a Lit Drop by hanging information on people's doors. We are able to do 1000 houses in 2 hours when 12 people show up. We then will go for lunch at a restaurant near by. Be one of those people by giving a call to a Host below!

Picnic with Clint - a Park Town Hall Meeting

Clint will hold his First of many - Picnic with Clint - a Park Town Hall Meeting Nov 17th at 1:00 PM following a canvass in Titusville. The picnic will be at Sand Point Park at US 1 and Grove Street in Titusville, Fl. Clint will bring the Campaign Bus and cook up some hot dogs. He will speak and welcome questions. Being with the people is what he is all about. We will do phone banking to the chosen precincts and include a flier about the picnic in the Lit Drops. We also would like to send out post cards and put ads in the paper to alert people to this great opportunity to get to know Clint and get their questions answered. To pay for the printing, newspaper ads, and food we want to raise $5000 starting with raising $1000 by Nov 3rd . Please go to www.ActBlue.com/page/ClintCurtis and give $5, $10 $25 today so we can reach our voters. We have 80 weekends left before the election and Clint will be traveling the four counties - Brevard, Orange , Volusia, Seminole canvassing and holding a Picnic with Clint - a Park Town Hall Meeting to reach our voters.

Howie Klein hosts a well respected blog called Down with Tyranny. He posted this article about Clint . Please go to the site and make a

CLINT CURTIS TAKES AIM AT ONE OF FLORIDA'S CROOKEDEST POLITICAL HACKS-- AND THE DCCC
http://downwithtyranny.blogspot.com/2007/10/clint-curtis-takes-aim-at-one-of.html

Howie thinks it is better to give to Clint directly than to the DCCC.
www.ActBlue.com/page/ClintCurtis.

"Clint may sound too independent and too rigorous of a thinker for the Inside the Beltway establishment but, to me, he sounds like exactly what the country needs-- in spades. …If you donate money to the DCCC, you are donating money to Jim Marshall so he can continue voting against children's health care…, why don't we let them know that they can keep their elitist millionaires-- from both sides of the putrid aisle-- because this government belongs to the people. Check out Clint at his website." Or go to www.ActBlue.com/page/ClintCurtis

FACEBOOK will Register Voters

The Brevard Young Democrats have let us know about the new tool on FACEBOOK.

This is a tool that promotes voter registration on Facebook. Users are asked their registration status, if they are not registered, they are provided the information on how to register in the state. If they are registered they click a pledge to vote in the November 2008 General Elections and they can set up a reminder email a day or more before the election! I tried answering both ways and the information provided for Florida registration was correct. You can invite up to 10 of your friends per day to use the application.

http://apps.facebook.com/votereg/

This has the capacity both for increasing voter registration and for increasing turnout. We all know the information for registering to vote is out there, but this application has the "push" aspect that could help register many Facebook users, especially young people. I've also heard that the 1,000 person limit for group communication will be expanded, allowing us to use many of our issue groups as a means to push this application to a wider audience.

It is also possible that this application will be further developed to allow the request of absentee ballots and to cover primary elections.

I urge all Facebook users in the Democratic and progressive community to install this application, invite your friends, and promote its use both over Facebook and other Internet mediums where Facebook users congregate (hint: everywhere).

Here are the links to the application and the MyDD story where I heard about it. (it would also be a good idea to read MyDD regularly in general, since useful information like this is posted all of the time.)

3. The DCCC and DSCC are political arms of the DLC.
These organizations have NO business intefering with LOCAL politics.
In previous elections, Rham Emmanuel used the Resources and Financial Power of the DCCC to torpedo the campaigns of local grassroots candidates clearing the field for the Corporate Approved DLC candidate to win the Primary election.

The DLC, the DCCC, and the DSCC are the enemies of Americans who Work for a Living.

The Democratic Party is a BIG TENT, but there is NO ROOM for those
who advance the agenda of THE RICH (Corporate Owners) at the EXPENSE of LABOR and the POOR.
