Poll question: Gore is THE ONE - only he can REBOOT THE MATRIX
Agree or disagree. If you disagree, please explain how your candidate is going to fight THE MATRIX and win on our behalf. (THE MATRIX being shorthand for the irresponsible corporate industrial military war-mongering fascist controlling powers that exist today)

1. Gore just announced again that he's not running. So if he's the one,
it's hopeless.

2. He did not say that
Edited on Wed Oct-17-07 06:57 PM by Cronus Protagonist
But if your belief structure requires you to make up stuff, so be it. He said he is not planning to run at this time. Besides, THE ONE may need to be persuaded, and he's not above that.

6. "Gore rules himself out of Presidential race."
Edited on Wed Oct-17-07 07:15 PM by pnwmom
That was the headline from one of the liberal papers in London. Go ahead and believe that Gore doesn't mean what he says. Maybe you're right. But if he doesn't jump in very soon, it will be too late.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/usa/story/0,,2193221,00.html

The newly crowned Nobel peace prize laureate, Al Gore, has moved to squash suggestions that he will stand as a candidate for the 2008 presidential elections.

"I don't have plans to be a candidate again," the former US vice-president told Norwegian television.

"I'm involved in a different kind of campaign, a global campaign to change the way people think about the climate crisis."

The blunt statement effectively brings to an end the state of limbo - actively maintained by Mr Gore until this point - in which observers and supporters were left guessing as to his electoral intentions.

7. Content does not match the title of the article
The stenographer veered away from stenography into fiction with that title.

9. Some of the content is along the same lines.
"The newly crowned Nobel peace prize laureate, Al Gore, has moved to squash suggestions that he will stand as a candidate for the 2008 presidential elections."

"The blunt statement effectively brings to an end the state of limbo - actively maintained by Mr Gore until this point - in which observers and supporters were left guessing as to his electoral intentions."

Yes, the reporter is adding his own interpretation. You are interpreting things in a more hopeful manner. I'm not.

11. You are just being pessimistic based on no new information, though.
If your pessimisim was backed by new information, then I might side with you, but mainly you're going on a reporters interpretation.

14. Which happened to come out as.
1. With in days of Al Gore winning the Nobel Peace Prize.

2. While he was out of the country, what candidate would make a definitive statement on running while out of the U.S.

3. I also believe with the South and West going through record breaking droughts, waking more people up to the looming catastrophe of global warming every day, Al Gore's popularity will only go up and the media know it.

It doesn't take much of a nose to smell the stench of that propaganda piece, I suspect the same people that trashed and slandered him before were more than eager to nip his rising popularity in the bud, thereby decreasing the chance of a run or draft.

12. Clearly Someone Unversed in Political Winks and Nods
That is hardly a categorical denial.

There are several categories that remain open for Gore to jump into.

3. But the oracle said...
that Gore is NOT the one, precisely because saying that was exactly what we needed to hear to create the massive grassroots movements that would propel him into power and give him enough of a power base to do the things he needs to do to be great!

...he doesn't 'plan' on running - but the M$M is going overboard trying to push him out the door ('No increase in buzz for Gore' 'Gore sayes he's not running' etc)

5. There is no spoon
"I don't have plans to be a candidate again, so I don't really see it in that context at all," Gore told Norwegian state broadcaster NRK in an interview broadcast Wednesday. "I'm involved in a different kind of campaign. It's a global campaign. It's a campaign to change the way people think about the climate crisis."

I think the future of the planet is kinda important and wish people would support him in that "different kind of campaign".

16. Albert Gore will step up to the plate
And he doesn't have to do it until the day before the actual election either. It would not be the first or last time that this country had a write-in candidate with broad public support.

24. Gore can skip some of those early primaries, you know...
For example, Michigan's delegates won't count and all candidates except Clinton are off the ballot - a meaningless primary.

So Al has essentially until the end of this month, unless the DraftGore people get enough signatures on the ballot and he somehow wins most delegates without declaring - which is unlikely to the point of being close to impossible.

I guess after Halloween we'll know one way or the other.

25. I was responding to the statement that...
The poster would not accept he wasn't running unless and until he endorsed someone.

There is a definite time limit on this and it's one Gore is well aware of. There is no way he would be considering a run, himself, and let MI slip by or not have announced by now.

20. There is no "ONE"
Why do we need to identify heroes in order to accomplish our goals? We are all "THE ONE." We can't hang all of our hopes on one man.

We need to stop looking for saviors and start doing more ourselves - we're much more powerful than many believe we are.

California residents: log on, sign up and help us collect signatures to get Al Gore on the primary ballot. We have until December 4 to collect 500 signatures from each of the state's 53 Congresional districts. Then we'll truly be main$tream.
