Awesome!

From Marc Ambinder writing for The Atlantic...

Turns Out: Obama Still Found More Donors

15 Oct 2007 10:14 pm

When we got out first look at the third quarter estimates two weeks ago, it seemed that Sen. Hillary Clinton had attracted more new donors to her campaign than he did -- approximately 7,000 more.

But the final numbers give the edge to Obama in this category: he found 108,000 new donors and Clinton attracted 100,000.

That's 365,000 donors in all. 92.5% of all 550,000 donations Obama received have been for less than $250.00
That's campaign finance reform right there, isn't it?

4. Release from the Obama campaign via The Politico's Ben Smith
Edited on Tue Oct-16-07 07:29 AM by flpoljunkie
From the Obama campaign:

Obama Announces Show of Grassroots Strength through Small Donor Donations and Activism

CHICAGO – The Obama campaign today announced that through 108,000 new donors in the third quarter, they raised $20 million for the primary and have approximately $32 million in funds available to spend in the primary with a total of over $36 million cash on hand. (Actual final total: $33,106,400.)

“The strength of our historic small donor base is in activism, not just contributions,” said campaign manager David Plouffe. “The vast majority of these supporters have not yet achieved their full giving potential and will ensure our ability to continue to raise the resources needed to win the nomination. Many of these donors will also provide organizational strength by going door-to-door, making phone calls and actively helping Barack Obama become the next president of the United States.”

Fundraising totals:

* 365,000 individual donors, year-to-date
* 108,000 new donors in the third quarter

In the third quarter, from 108,000 donors who gave a total of 182,523 donations:

* 94% are $250 and under
* 89.5% are $100 and under
* 51% are $25 and under

Over the course of the entire year, out of 550,000 donations from 365,000 donors

* 92.5% of donations are $250 or less
* 87% of donations are $100 or less
* 45% of donations are $25 or less

6. Obama and Clinton are tied at $32 million dollars cash on hand for the primary after debts.
Obama and Clinton are tied at $32 million dollars cash on hand for the primary after debts.

===========================================================

From PR release:

CLINTON REPORTS $50 MILLION CASH-ON-HAND: $35M PRIMARY, $15M GENERAL

Senator now leads Democratic & Republican fields in cash on hand for both primary and general contests

Hillary Clinton’s campaign today announced that it has $50 million in cash-on-hand, of which approximately $35 million can be spent for the primary and $15 million on the general election. The number reflects the strength of support for Clinton from every walk of life and every part of America – and means she will have more money to spend than any other candidate in the months leading up to the primary.

“Our success this quarter raising money from over 100,000 new donors reflects the overwhelming grassroots enthusiasm Hillary is attracting from every part of the country,” campaign manager Patti Solis Doyle said today. “Not only that, our cash-on-hand total means we will now have the most resources of any campaign to help spread our message as the primary campaign heads into the final stretch.”

In addition to having $35 million in cash-on-hand for the primary, Clinton’s campaign noted several key numbers demonstrating the overwhelming depth and breadth of Clinton’s support:

· Approximately $27.8 million raised this quarter: $23.7 million for the primary, $4.1 million for the general

· Over 100,000 new donors this quarter

· 24 low-dollar fundraisers this quarter (versus 6 in the 2nd quarter)

· $8 million raised on the internet this quarter

============================================================

From prior reporting:

Clinton's campaign on Sept. 14 sent refunds totaling $804,850 to 249 donors -- all of them associated with the disgraced bundler Norman Hsu. "While we had no information that any specific individual made a contribution that was not from his or her personal funds, we decided to refund all of those donations out of an abundance of caution," said Clinton campaign spokesman Howard Wolfson.

17. Talk about splitting hairs
Basically, they both have raised a boat load of money from a hell of a lot of people. We already knew that. Anything else is parsing details too unimportant to worry about.
