I was in the military and just happened to have the opportunity to participate in a drill just like this. In my particular case, we spent a week simulating what would happen if Saddam invaded Kuwait. We had tons of people and computers making it as real as possible, complete with scud missile attacks.

Guess what happened six months later? You know it. Saddam invaded Kuwait.

These guys don't do these things for fun....

They run all kinds of drills... They have to in order to prove plans are feasible. Marshal law could be necessary in local areas that experience major disasters, what is so hard to understand? Should we outlaw marshal law and watch as a devastated region gets looted? Use your brain.

Marshal law is the first step in abrogating all of our rights. Obviously if you want to send troopers into disaster areas to try to quell looting with unloaded m-16's that's one thing. Send the troopers in, they can't shoot, everyone knows that accept for you I geuss.

But marshal law is also something that can be abused at the executive level. It's the point that our government's balance of power becomes imbalanced.

Now you may think that we got Shirley Temple running the White House but I have an entirely different view. Marshal law and the denial of all or our constitutional rights is something we should all be concerned about. You think it's paranoid. Do you think it's paranoid to think that we are now the world's jailer? Do you think it's paranoid that we now abduct people and torture them? Do you think it's paranoid that this president has claimed more executive power than any other, that I know of, in history?

Yes I was in the military to serve this country because I'm proud to be an American. But I'm certainly not proud of a lot of monkey business going on.

Nobody here is talking about conspiracy theories here accept to you. I'm talking about awareness.

We would surely get 17 Republican votes in the Senate in that case. Well my new friend Jim4wes let me thank you for your spirited debate. It seems that we are not going to come to any kind of agreement, though keep in mind that I do respect your opinion. Obviously these forums can become a little stale if we all agree. Because let's face it, most of the stuff discussed her is like preaching to the choir. We all agree.

Anyways, if you had any interest in this over-done topic, I'd suggest you research what role an organization like Blackwater might play during a period of marshal law.

Either way on my end I'll cede 2 things. One is that I better go to bed as the hour is late. And the other is that just as likely as not, you're more right than I. But who knows?

routinely. The only interest is in the choice of imminent threat due to the anti-Iran tactics of the WH, based ominously on nuclear threats imagined or based on possible internal US ploys like the nuke bombers recently winging across the country.

At the least this builds up the directional fear the administration wants leading up to its commitment to slaughter Iranians.
