Jonathan Alter on Olberman said that Gore has already said he would NOT endorse Hillary.
Edited on Fri Oct-12-07 07:23 PM by saracat
Alterman said there was bad blood and Gore did not like her going back to the middle of the WH years. He said Gore had liked her in the beginning. He also said he didn't think Gore would run but said he could win if he did. I don't think anyone, including Gore knows what he is going to do.But it sure seems like a lot of the talking heads don't want him in this race.

2. Neither will I endorse Hillary
She will be business as usual with a D in front of her name. We NEED to do better than THAT.

11. We should DEMAND better
we have been Lied too, Terrorized, treated like WE are the enemy of the state, with spying. Our basic right to demand to see the evidence of those who accuse us, and why we are being detained/arrested, has been taken...WE should be demanding better.

America now stands for Torture, Unjustified aggression against other sovereign nations. That is not the Country I want or we deserve.

We don't need a status quo. We need to change direction of this country. We need strong leadership, someone who is respected here and all over the world.

3. I never realized that Olberman...
was in the tank for Hillary. His piece on Obama's speech with that smarmy-ass Dana Milbank was ridiculous. He never criticizes other Dem candidates like he criticizes Obama.

7. Correct; he has been snide about Obama from the get-go
asked him that asinine question about Barry Bonds in the debate as well.

It doesn't hurt; KO is a sportscaster masquerading as a political thinker.

9. I wouldn't go that far...
He just seems so contradictory when you listen to his past "special reports" where he takes these "Kucinich-esque" positions on the war and he criticizes Obama more than HRC. I know that this is totally unrelated but the fact that he's almost 50 and dates a 23-24 yr old tells me that something isn't quiet right.

33. Did you mean "Your slip is showing?"
You're not communicating clearly.

When someone on our side is fucking up or a hypocrite I don't have a problem saying so...maybe that's why I support Obama and you support Hillary.

37. No, I don't support Hillary.
I support the man you find so easy to defame though. Olbermann was the first to speak out against this admin and the criminals who populate it.

I may not agree with EVERYTHING he says as I recognize he is a human afterall - but to cut a person apart on a personal level because he doesn't agree with you political stance is a choice made by very insecure individuals.

15. I agree!
I was LIVID when I heard them. Keith has seemed rather subtly pro Hillary, but tonight the smearing of Obama was absolutely blatent. I just fired off a letter to him with some facts he neglected to mention in that segment.

21. I knew I wasn't the only one who thought that!
He's seemed subtly pro-Hillary but tonight was just BLATANT! Is there ANY difference b/w Hillary and Pelosi? Yes! Hillary is to the right of Pelosi and Pelosi catches way more shit! I don't understand this ridiculous contradiction of his.

we should make him give back those ties!

unnecessary, surely?- (:sarcasm:)

Nor I predict he will endorse anyone before the nomination...he is at the height of his influence right now...injecting himself now in partisan politics will stall that...

He is the only candidate that has a moral imperative to run.

17. Interesting except Gore never said any such thing.
If I remember correctly, Poltico tried to spin the quote below as proving Gore wouldn't endorse Hillary. My guess is Alter is misremembering the Politico spin as fact.

http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2007/09/04/america/NA-POL-US-Gore-Endorsement.php

NEW YORK: Former Vice President Al Gore says he will probably endorse 2008 Democratic presidential candidates. And it will not necessarily be Hillary Rodham Clinton, the wife of his former boss, former President Bill Clinton.

"Uh...no," the former vice president told 02138 magazine when asked if he feels "some obligation" to endorse the senator from New York.

"I have friendships with her and with other candidates, and they're all on equal footing at this point as far as I'm concerned," he said.

Gore said several candidates had called and visited him to seek advice. He declined to name them.

Edited on Fri Oct-12-07 08:00 PM by saracat
and alter specifically said there was "bad blood" and they did not like one another dating back to the WH. I would imagine that is true.Gore was not treated well by Hillary when he was Veep. She condecended to him and intervened in what was agreed to have been his "power". She undermined his influence.

23. We don't know, but we know it's pretty much a given Alter would have written about it if Gore
had told him that. He wouldn't have wasted the alleged scoop with a throwaway line on Olbermann.
