I just love Howard Dean, and I love what he's done to our party. He is truly the kick in the ass the Democratic Party. Thank you, Howard Dean, for having backbone. I would've willingly campaigned for you when Kucinich bowed out.

That was great, and I applaud your heart-felt labor of love!

btw - the one photo with Dean and the blonde kid smiling... that kid and Dean look SO much alike! I loved your closing..."I will always be a Howard Dean Democrat." We have so much to be thankful for. Our guys put their hearts and souls into their ride. I heard someone say that Dean fell from grace. I beg to differ. We are a merciless nation. Mercy failed Dean, not grace. Mercy is not getting what you deserve, grace is not deserving what you get. We maybe never deserved Howard Dean, but I'm glad he's merciful, and he's still gonna fight for us.

29. Slinker, a good story for you.
We have had calls all day from friends who were not really Dean people, telling us how sorry they were about our candidate's treatment.. Even in the store, people saw the buttons and said why are you wearing them.

Almost every single person was so admiring of Dean and his stances. They are angry at how the media has treated them.

We explained that they could show the media who's who by voting for him in the March 9 primary. That way they could have a voice, and he might get enough delegates to help.

I was amazed at the ones who had shown no interest before, but they are showing it now. Our neighbor is so mad she is sending letters to her friends that they can vote for him.

Isn't it funny how the people ain't as stupid as the media?

35. Slink
this was great work. I've always been so sad that the portrayal of Dean in the media was of the"Angry Dean". All of the pictures or clips they used were of his passionate statements about his core beliefs... rarely did they show him amongst those that he was campaigning for.

In just one post you squished the Howard Dean is an "Angry Man" meme. Yes he's angry at the direction our country has taken, at the Right Wing, at the lack of leadership from the Democrats in Congress - and so are we. But looking at him out on the camapaign trail, amongst the people, be they supporters or those whose support he was trying to earn... you see the real Howard Dean... one filled with hope, optimism, passion and humor.

Still planning on supporting Dean (and his cause) here in TX.

Dean made me believe that we could beat Bush and his campaign made the Democrats actually grow a spine again. I am forever grateful to him. I think the two best candidates are gone and that is so depressing. Anyway, this is a fab slide show, you should be proud. Thanks for creating it.

for that little trip thru the campaign. Recognized LA Union Station on Sept 30, 2003 - I was there. It was a great night.

I have spent much time 2day e-mailing & commiserating & comforting fellow supporters. I take some comfort in knowing the next phase will be better than the one just ending.

We now know neighbors who are willing to devote time and energy to change the direction of our country.

We now know the power of the corporate media to quash a campaign on a whim.

We now know, for the first time, thousands of small donations have a voice.

We now know to be better prepared next time.

We now know we are not alone.
edit: add - just sent it on to my list

For reminding me of why I supported this guy. I spent the day comiserating with people - it's been very sad.

I saw Dean for the first time in Sandwich, NH, last spring. We were jammed into a room meant for 75 people and there were double that. The room was full of black flies, since the doors were open. He just brushed them off and cracked jokes about it.

That night he said something that made this grumpy old feminist very happy. He said, "In countries where women have full equality there is no terrorism." This is a man who genuinely likes women. Who genuinely believes in equality.

I'll always cherish the picture of my 6'4" daughter shaking Dean's hand, as he looked up at her, smiling.

We started something here. It ain't over.

Slink - you are a total babe. :yourock:

77. Thanks!
Dean was my favorite of the major candidates, and I felt really bad yesterday. But you know from the enthusiastic support he gets, he'll stay around like a watchdog for the party. Maybe form a group. And I think his supporters that were there lifted his spirits. :hi:

78. Beautiful, great quote here:
"If Democrats win, over that inauguration will be the halo of Howard Dean."

79. Thanks Slink!
"It all started with a man who wanted a bike trail". I think one can find out a lot about a candidate in their reason for entering politics.

And, oy, I hate to be negative in such a thread, but I sooo wanted for my first vote in a presidential election to be for Dr.Dean...

91. I am struggling about my NY vote.
On one hand, I want to vote for Dr.Dean... On the other hand, the state may actually make a difference, and I'd rather see John Edwards than John Kerry as the nominee...

Oh, and the ballot is pretty darn confusing: http://www.monroecounty.gov/ballots/CD29.pdf

86. Download Time Was Worth It
Took me half an hour to download the entire slideshow (and I kept hoping my connection wasn't going to kick me out halfway through), but it was worth it. Thanks for posting this! It was great to see, though it was also sad, given that it's a farewell tribute. I don't think I've quite "dealt with" Dean's exit from the campaign (too early in the "stages of grief" perhaps), but I can't help feeling that we've lost something irreplaceable ... and can't help hoping some element will yet remain. I'm still voting for the guy on March 2!

89. sorry to hear that it took so long to download.....
I originally started out with 100 pictures of Dean, but I got it down to about 45 pictures of Dean which was pretty hard to do.
