Will the press react to Kerry's "arrogance"the same way they did to Gore's
Perceived or factual, everyone here has heard the stories about how the press turned on Gore because of his arrogance towards them.
Lord knows i have no love for the mainstream press, but there are certain asses that need to be kissed in certain situations and a presidential election seems to me to be one of those times. For whatever reason, Gore rubbed the press the wrong way.

That bring me to Kerry. Apparently, he has the same m.o. Will the same treatment befall him. Will every little statement/issue taken out of context be distorted in order to "put this guy in his place"?

I only have one experience with the Kerry reputation of being rude and disrespectful towards the press.
I was watching VH-1 about 2 weeks ago and that dude Amir(?) was interviewing all the Dem candidates. He was asking them silly, harmless pop culture questions. It couldn't have taken more than 10 minutes, if that. And it wasn't even a sit down, no lights to set up or anything.
After interviewing everyone of the candidates, Amir says, in a nice way, that Kerry has been the only one who has been hard to get a hold of. So the crew camps inside a room next to the place where Kerry is giving a speech. Some low-level guy tells amir he will have just a couple of minutes with Kerry, insisting that it must be fast.
So when Kerry first appears you can tell he would rather be anyplace else than here, "bothering' with this little VH-1 bullshit. So Amir hits Kerry with a couple of really serious(wink wink) questions and Kerry, after answering them, says something to the effect of "I don't understand what this has to do with anything, why do i have to answer this". Amir, sheepishly, says it will just be a couple of more questions. Kerry takes a deep sigh, rubs his eyes, and decides he'll tough it out.
Does Kerry not see he is coming off as a total crab to the entire audience, which happens to consist of a large voting block that, if surveys are correct, we are losing to the Repugs.

I hope he can straighten up his act. That is if he gets the nominee.

1. Good point.
For various reasons, the media did not like Gore. They seem to really like Edwards. He is fun, they say. Will they warm to Kerry? Probably not. Will it matter? Probably.

2. And hear I thought
the media had already chosen Kerry as their candidate.

Is there a FAQ or something here so I could keep these things straight?

4. gravy train
Seems so. But the GE will be a long, grueling process. Not a 1 month gravy train like the ride Kerry has had up until now.

3. I saw Kerry like that three months ago
his patrician bearing can really turn off a lot of people. That's what he has to work on, is his approach to the television audience behind the television camera.

5. The Establishment Press has been consistently snide regarding Kerry.
A lot of anti-Kerry propaganda over 20 years is the mainstay of
press comments. Not much will change since the overall tenure
of the mass media has moved to the rigth of the political center
and Kerry's record is to the left. So there is no reason
for Kerry to pander.

6. Am I missing something?....I thought Gore came across as a serious,
intelligent and very NICE guy!....Kerry seems to me to be like a favourite school teacher...What's wrong with that?....I don't get these negative characterizations of these two guys....Edwards seems to smile a bit too much to be sincere, in my opinion! :)

7. I don't think that was the reason for the despicable coverage given Gore.
I think that was one of the excuses they gave, though.
