Tom Toles cartoon.....strange post 9-11 climate of fear.
The right wing truly does have our number on fear of being labeled weak on terrorism.

Tom Toles cartoon

I remember when Joe Sestak let it slip that the Denocrats had told them when they were running for office not to talk about getting out of Iraq...it would make us look soft on national security.

House candidates were told not to talk about leaving Iraq

EDGMONT, Pa., Oct. 12 — When Joe Sestak announced he was running for Congress, national Democrats and media consultants told him not to talk about pulling troops out of Iraq, arguing it would only encourage the image of Democrats as weak on national security.

Nine months later, having ignored their advice, Mr. Sestak has put a 20-year Republican incumbent on the run for the first time, turning a bid by a political novice into a real race. Polls show that Mr. Sestak is running even or better with his opponent, Representative Curt Weldon, and that the war more than any other issue is propelling voters toward him.

We are in Iraq partially because of that fear of being labeled weak on terrorism. Even more tragically, we may go to Iran for the same reason.

2. But the repubs are the ones who let Bin Laden blow up the trade centers
and then get away, and laugh about "where are the WMD", and admitted that they don't care where Bin Laden is.

Yeah, I'd vote for that over Democrats any day.

3. Yeah, but that's logic.
Logic has no power of religious-like beliefs. "Dems weak on terror" is the dominant meme that the MSM feeds daily. You just can't oppose such things with treason. It's not even a good contest.

4. Yeah. We need a meme of our own to counter "Dems weak on terror".
Something like "Presidential Daily Briefing: Osama Bin Laden determined to strike in the US".

It's too wordy, though. People want pithy, not truthy.

7. But we are still falling for it and letting them control the message.
I just watched Hoyer and Pelosi on Countdown and listened to the explanation about the FISA bill. And I thought about the MoveOn censure again, and how bitter it made me.

I read Hillary's statement today about her goal to form a "centrist coalition" like in the days when she was growing up. She was a Goldwater girl.

Pelosi seemed to equate all of us with the people protesting her in CA. Not that it's bad, but there are all kinds of people with many personalities. She sounded like she was looking down her nose at all of us.

Stop letting them control the message and agenda
