Quinnipiac: Hillary only Dem to beat Guiliani an all three top Swing states...support is deep...
Hillary way in front of Democratic field as well...

New York Sen. Hillary Clinton is overwhelming Illinois Sen. Barack Obama and the rest of the Democratic primary field, and slowly increasing her lead over New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, the Republican front-runner, in Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania, according to Quinnipiac University's Swing State Poll, three simultaneous surveys of voters in states that have been pivotal in presidential elections since 1964.

Sen. Clinton's support appears to be as deep as it is wide. In Ohio, 74 percent of her supporters say they are not too likely or not likely at all to change their mind. In Florida, 59 percent of her supporters are unlikely to change their mind; in Pennsylvania it's 56 percent.

Giuliani voters are less committed, as no more than 39 percent in any state say they are unlikely to change their mind.

Matchups by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University poll finds:

* Florida: Clinton tops Giuliani 46 - 43 percent, breaking a 44 - 44 percent tie September 12;
* Ohio: Clinton tops Giuliani 46 - 40 percent, compared to 47 - 40 percent September 6;
* Pennsylvania: Clinton beats Giuliani 48 - 42 percent, up from 46 - 44 percent August 23

...

"The news just keeps getting better for Sen. Clinton. She has a Democratic primary lead over Sen. Obama ranging from 27 to 34 points in Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania and is widening her margin over the Republican hopefuls in each of those three critical states," said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.

9. Yup. If we don't impeach Bush, we will impeach the next president.
Because this is too much power to hand over to anyone. And Republicans will always be on board for impeaching a Democrat.

Whoever wins inherits the shitstorm.

6. This is sheer name recognition.
And the fact that the Clinton era is beginning to look like a golden age.

12. Because of others attacking her. They threw so much dirt at the
Clintons before, they are both immune now; nothing sticks, and it actually works the other way. Every time she is attacked by her fellow Dems -- to say nothing of GOP --I feel like supporting her myself, and, for all I know, probably will before it's over. Once the Edwardses started attacking her my support for John started growing softer and softer. I guess I am not unique. DU attacks on her have the same effect on me.

14. Yeah, but nobody likes a juggernaut.
She still doesn't have my primary vote. In fact, I think it's vital that we vote our gut choices IN STRENGTH in the primaries. Even if every single poll says our candidate will lose. It instructs the debate, it focuses the programs that will be presented. Whoever wins still has to woo the rest of us. So they need to know what we really want.

More people are becoming aware of the coming primaries (the real November election, which is local, has completely disappeared from consciousness which is another reason I am totally against this absurdly long campaign season)and are making a choice. But they still don't feel the need to know more about the people they don't know.

And, as I said below, the Clinton era is beginning to look like the Golden Age. (Despite the desperate and despicable attempts to link it to the Bush administrations with the meme Bush Clinton Bush Clinton.)

But no Republican is going to win with an honest count. Against anyone. How strong the machine still is for a dishonest count, I don't know. My suspicion is that local support for these buzzards is GONE and statewide and municipal Republicans won't a lift a finger or look away for a second this time. Which is why only the dregs of the Republican Party are running. Which is why so many Republican congressmen have decided to look for other work.

Remember, the only way for ambitious local Republicans to have a chance of moving up is for the current entrenched leadership to be electorally slaughtered. Gone. Then when the Dems mess up they move in pretending to be all clean and shiny. Say, in two years. So they have a huge incentive to let Dems take the White House and Congress in 2008: 2010. It's a whole new Congress in 2010 and mid-terms traditionally lose seats for the controlling party. All they have to wait is TWO YEARS. TWO YEARS of having their pictures taken with wounded veterans and orphans.

So we'll win. But we'll have to be damned careful what we do with that win. Because they still control the media and the courts. And nobody should ever be given as much power as the next president will inherit. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

16. One encouraging sign here...
Is that we have seen a series of polls now that have Florida most definitely in play...and could possibly be characterized as a lean to the Democrats...

Same in Ohio
