We are all adults here. Adults size up and make judgments about people we hardly know all the time. Neighbors, co-workers, customers and clerks. We meet people all the time and size them up quickly based on a lifetime of experience.
This is why the smallest little impressions matter so much. Way,way more than policy statements ever could. The mechanical cackle, the diva about hair care, the stinky feet and the bad breath. This is what elections turn on, seemingly silly stuff become magnified, become hugely important. Every candidate from every party at this level is tightly packaged and produced, scripted and controlled as much as any cola commercial. Adults know when they're being sold, we all have alot of experience with advertising.
These tiny, under the radar ,not released by the campaign, impressions take on a life on their own because this the exact same way we make judgments about strangers we meet and size up every day.
Which do you do more often; Read the entire ad or just look at the picture?
Did you ever meet a neighbor and tell your kids to stay away from him/her instinctively? Most of us trust our own judgment in these matters
This is the criteria we all use every day. Its also how presidents get chosen.
