GOTV -- Clark a better VP choice than Edwards?
When you look at "First time voters" here:
http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2004/primaries/pages/epolls/NH/index.html

It looks like the Clark campaign did a better job of inspiring first time voters than Edwards.

If "Get Out The Vote" is key to winning elections would this indicate Clark is a better VP choice?

(It doesn't look like CNN has "first time voter" info from the other states.)

2. Depends ...

From an election standpoint, Clark would be better.

From a JOB perspective, Edwards would be better.

4. Why from a job perspective would Edwards be better?
Just wondering what you think.

6. Legislative experience

A traditional role of a Veep is congressional liaison. Clark has ZERO legislative experience. He doesn't know the ins and outs. Edwards does.

As Veep, Clark would be best used as a point man for foreign policy. But I think his overall talent would be wasted. I'd rather see Clark as Secretary of State or Senator.

9. I see your point on the legislative bit
I don't think if Kerry is the nominee that he'll choose Edwards as his VP, in my opinion.

10. You really want Bill Frist to reject Clark, do you?
Cabinet positions are subject to Senate approval. Remember what they did to Clinton? they didn't even have the majority then. Why would you want to put Clark in such a position (seing your avatar - i ask)

15. Kerry has enough legislative experience for everyone
if Clark was the VP he could be a foreign policy/ national security kind of guy with a profile that is above the cabinet

projects may include
rebuilding the relationship with Europe
finding Osama (if he is not the October surprise)
rebuilding the credibility of US Intelligence

these jobs are above and beyond the day to day activities of the cabinet and require cross department coordination. putting the VP in charge would prevent Dept of State, Homeland Security, FBI, etc... from assuming too much internal control.

if Clark was SoS he would be boxed in to JUST SoS duties. if he crossed into DoD activities BAM turf war. Clark has the multidisciplinary grasp to handle a jobs like that. and these roles are too important to be left to interdepartmental squabbling ala Rice, Powell & Rumy.

hell Cheney does this job anyways
and like he limits himself to hanging out in the senate breaking ties

5. That's what I thought at first, but...
our international relations are so screwed up that we could use a "super diplomat". The job of the VP isn't very clear. The country could use Clark to make constant visits overseas.

accomplishing something.

7. Clark being an Economist
AND being able to GOTV for first time voters, Clark would be a MUCH better candidate for VP. Not to mention his Foreign policy experience over Edwards....no comparison.

Clark for VP! Go Wes!

11. Male-Female split
We always worried he didn't appeal to women, but it's close - only a percentage point apart.
