1. How about an apology
for the dirty campaigning he did and that group did against him?

4. It was a nice statement
why not just accept it?

And I'm sure he'll apologize as soon as every other politician in the world apologizes. It's politics, not checkers.

11. It's sucking up or pandering to people who know
what part he played in Dean's demise and would rather drink hemlock than vote for him. However, most Dean supporters equate letting shrubby in for 4 more years worse than hemlock, and we'll hold our nose and vote for the hemlock. Belated "statements" just make us roll our eyes and say yah yah yah.

15. the part he played in Dean's demise
was to be his opponent and get more votes. I doubt he'll apologize for that.

21. So
somebody who knows somebody who's raised funds for Kerry ran a commercial, and therefore John Kerry is responsible for Dean's demise. Got it.

And if Dean couldn't survive a single television commercial, he had no hope in the GE anyway.

20. I know I'm not surprised
I expect nothing less anymore.

Dean never did anything wrong. His campaign was foiled by everyone but him! He never lied. He never played politics :eyes:

I truly don't understand the rabid hatred of Kerry on this board. Edwards and Kerry are more similarly aligned than any of the other candidates. We should be happy. Not bitter.

24. If you didn't support or campaign for Dean then
you couldn't possibly understand......kerry has burned some bridges with the Dean supporters. I sense he considers us expendable for the trophy. Yes, we are deeply bitter and rightfully owned.

The Primaries felt like the 2000 Election......thats the best way to explain our feelings. You may not validate them and I'm not asking for such. I just wanted to give an example of how we feel so you could try and come close to understanding.

29. And Dean burned bridges with me long ago
Edited on Wed Feb-18-04 08:08 PM by curse10
he repeatedly called my candidate Bush-lite and inferred that he was a republican. Nevermind that Kerry is more liberal than almost everyone on almost every issue. Kerry is not the anti-christ or bush-lite, as Dean and some supporters of his I've come across would like to claim.

Dean burned this bridge way back when Kerry was in the hospital, recooping from prostate cancer. And he didn't just do it to Kerry. He pulled the same tactics on Clark, Edwards, and DK. So don't expect me to feel sorry for someone who brought on his own demise.

I was expecting to have to get behind Dean in November. But I know I would have had a hard time working with his campaign. From past experience with his campaign workers here in Mass and people on this board, I would not have been welcomed into the fold. Being called stupid and retarded for supporting anyone else besides Dean isn't endearing.

edited for typos :-)

10. Kerry lied in the last sentence
Kerry does not share the common goal of bringing change to America.
Defeating Bush is just a temporary band-aid that does not fix the cancer that Kerry is a part of.

Pretty much reflects my thinking about Howard's decision. And I certainly hope we all agree with his last statement: "...we work toward the common goal of defeating George W. Bush and bringing change to America.”

14. I agree
Did anyone of Dean's supporters listen to what he said today?

Based on some of the comments here I do not think so.

The most important thing is to defeat Bush, then work toward the goals of universal healthcare, etc, etc.

If we become bitter at each other then we will get Bush for another four years, and getting back into power then will be almost impossible

37. Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah.
Kerry can pander on and on all he wants, but it isn't going to work on me. I've already voted for Dean in Virginia, but had I to do it again and Dean had already dropped out I still wouldn't vote for Kerry.

Voting for him in the General Election remains yet to be seen. A lot of it depends on how Dean reacts to the issue -- does he go all out for Kerry or does he just endorse him, say good luck and leave it at that? I also have personal issues with him -- such as when is he going to start telling the truth instead of spin? Maybe he should start earning my respect before he starts trying to earn my vote. I could have easily voted for Joe Lieberman in the General Election if he had won. Why? Because I respect Joe. He stood his ground, he didn't flip flop, he said what he believed and let the voters decide. Kerry will sit there and either tell you everything you want to hear or avoid the issue entirely.
