HAHAHA Nascar dads unhappy with Bush's visit (a must read)
Here's the official apology from the Daytona International Speedway.

"Daytona International Speedway would like to apologize for any delays that many fans may have experienced while entering the Speedway Sunday for the Daytona 500.

Due to the President's visit, security was heightened and increased bag checks were required by the Secret Service. Speedway officials cooperated with Secret Service requirements and deeply regret any inconvenience this may have caused the fans.

Through our Fans “R” 1st @ Daytona initiative, Daytona International Speedway officials welcome any feedback from fans who may have been affected by the President’s visit.

We ask that you call 1-888-500-DAYTONA or email us at daytonaspeedway@daytonainternationalspeedway.com with any comments."

1. If Clinton had done this
Rush would have screamed for 3 weeks.
Hannity would have made snide comments for 4 weeks.
The entire cast of Fox News would have been beating their breasts about it for 5 weeks.
Gigot would have insisted the DNC be billed for it.
Two congressional investigations.

4. Um yeah, and WE were billed for it.
Checked it out - it was catagorized as official White House bidness... so you and me get to pick up that tab.

By the way - Jeb or no Jeb, he pissed a lot of Floridians off with his little visit. The NASCAR delay was one thing, but he snubbed a mayor by not inviting her to meet his plane, AND he said of Tampa, "All I have to say is, fix your potholes."

Maybe not enough to make his lose FL this time, but sure enough to make even the RW radio morning show guy fume.

9. What do you mean "lose Florida this time"?
He lost it last time, and he will this time, again. Whether or not the votes will be counted this time, and whether or not all eligable voters will be allowed into the polls, the traitorous slime will lose Florida again. He may not be proclaimed the loser, we know how that works, but he will lose.

11. You're right... I should have said "lose"
In the hypothetical, Jeb isn't Gubner, sense of the word "lose."

12. He said the EXACT same thing when he was in Pittsburgh
When Bush was in Pittsburgh this past summer for the National Urban League he was very critical of the potholes.

Wasn't this the same pResident who was criticizing the size of the highways bill just last week?

13. My husband, a NASCAR fan, said
said his mother kept an article about a time when Clinton visited a NASCAR race. One of the drivers (maybe Terry LaBonte) was saying, with regret, how badly and rudely all the drivers, including himself, had treated Bill Clinton when he visited when he was in office. LaBonte said he was ashamed of himself. He said none of the drivers wanted to be around him, walked away from him, disengaged, etc.

3. Excellent. Here's mine:
The next time you invite someone like George Bush to a race, knowing that his photo op will cost millions in taxpayer dollars, will cause inconvenience to tens of thousands of your customers, please remember who is paying for the tickets. NOT George Bush, your customers.

This campaign stunt for Bush (apparently a new NASCAR fan?!?!) will cost him at least one vote. Mine. The next time you invite him, let us know in advance so we can choose not to attend.

Thank you.

7. Communicating with NASCAR dads

With this group, you should compare Bush to Jeff Gordon.

Gordon has his fans, but they're the "fairweather" fans. Real NASCAR fans HATE Jeff Gordon because of his dirty, reckless driving and privelege. They also resent the amount of help that Jeff got from his daddy.

We need photoshopped images in Gordon's "rainbow warrior" suit. Pictures of Dubaya in the "Rainbow car" would help as well.

This is the best way to frame George with the respect to the NASCAR world.

The good ole boys had their Daytona rituals upset by this clown trolling for photo ops.

6. He's a big fat stupid poser
That's all he does. He thinks he's some kind of male model or something.

And he isn't qualified for that job, either.

8. I was there...
The bag checks were just routine and not really an inconvenience.

Bush got some cheers, not really rousing though, and a couple people booing near where I was sitting. One of the drivers who isn't really one of the super popular ones got a better crowd response than B*.

A radio station interviewed him while he was there, the radio host asked him when he got interested in racing and decided to go to Daytona and he responded by saying "Congressman told me that if I came to a race..." and he trailed off for a minute like he was going to start talking about his re-election campaign and changed his mind and said "they told me if I wanted to come to a race that I should come to a race...in Daytona". It was so transparent and laugh out loud funny.

There were other ridiculous moments in the interview, the radio guy was talking about how impressive Air Force one was and Bush responded by going "yeah it's a plane -long pause-...and impressive plane that.." and he continued on with some drivel.

What a MORON.

And the radio host continued to kiss his butt by going on and on about how interested Dubya was in the racing..yeah, real interested, that's why he flew away half way through. :eyes: The man also asked him if he listened to their radio station and he said "No......but I watch TV!"..LOL.

They also had a GOP motorhome thing there handing out Bush/Cheney bumperstickers and a whiteboard w/dry erase markers that you could sign on if you support 'George W. Bush's vision for a better America' :puke: It was full, but it wasn't very large to begin with.

10. Here is really why they are apologizing
<snip>

Race fans say the commander in chief took command of their seats.

Some Daytona 500 attendees seated near President Bush's suite Sunday complained they couldn't return to the grandstands after using the bathroom, grabbing a soda or buying a T-shirt.

Daytona International Speedway officials responded Monday by placing a formal apology on the track's Web site for any inconveniences fans faced while Bush met NASCAR drivers, posed with military personnel and gave television and radio interviews.

"We want to get (fans) in their seats as soon as possible to enjoy the experience," Speedway spokesman David Talley said. "Unfortunately, we were doing exactly what the Secret Service asked, and that was holding people up until the president was done."

<snip>
