Dean supporters for Dean
Dean's positions remain unchanged. If the reasons you supported him have also remained unchanged, I'd encourage you to vote for Dean in your state primary to send a message to the convention that we know we still "have the power".

If we're going to be stuck with another business-as-usual insider, let's at least let the convention know that we're still demanding to be heard.

3. No, and had you READ the body of the post, you'd have understood that...
How is my primary vote a "vote for Bush"? That doesn't make ANY sense.

Damn, no wonder unemployment's so high...we've more than doubled our population in the past couple of years!

13. That doesn't answer my question. What does a primary vote have to
Edited on Wed Feb-18-04 06:49 PM by MercutioATC
do with voting for Bush.

I'm well aware that Dean isn't "running". I also know that the party can't be hurt by my primary vote if I choose to use it to make a statement.

...which you'd have understood had you read my original thread. What's so difficult to understand here?

Your sentiment is Karl Rove's wet dream.

Feel good?

20. If you ask me, "falling in line" is what's half-killed this Party.
I've said numerous times that the nominee will get my vote in November. However, why would I EVER fall in line behind a candidate that I feel represents exactly what's wrong with this Party before the convention? Why wouldn't I use my primary vote to attempt to send a message?

Your argument seems akin to "America, love it or leave it". It's the loyalty I have to real Democratic principles and my desire to have a stronger party that prompts me to vote for Dean in the primary. Sometimes you can't turn a blind eye in the name of Party politics. Sometimes you have to expose what you perceive to be the flaws in hopes that they're dealt with.

27. Fine.
I am just tired of the anti-ABB sentiment I've seen around here. Lotta good it did in 2000 with the Greens.

I understand where you are coming from. I was for Dean; at one point I was dead set against Kerry, after he made remarks about "getting over it" and such.

But I have come to realize that this is a lot bigger than one man. ANd Kerry ain't so bad considering the alternative.

If I was disrespectful I apologize. There is some definite sourgrapes bitterness out there. We need to move beyond that and keep our eyes on the prize. I hope you can see my point of view.

i wish you well in your primary. I have been considering still voting Dean in the primary here in Cali, but I think a vote for party unity sends a stronger message to Bush. I have bigger bones to pick with them than with the DLC right now.

29. Peace.
No hard feelings...this was posted in response to the other threads "Dean for XXXX" where the poster seemed to assume that our primary votes were all up for grabs now. I just wanted a thread for people who continue to support Dean through the primaries.

23. That's because there is alot of call for ABB in GD. Cripes Dean hadn't
even stopped campaigning before the ABB threads popped up. I understand your concern.

However one topic spawns the other without question. If one starts a thread on ABB, another will start one on voting third party. Yin/Yang KWIM?

Peace

31. Understood
But the ABB argument is much more compelling and logical to anyone with half a brain than third party at this point. Especially in light of 2000, and the fact that Bush has been FAR worse than even most of us actually feared.

Sorry, if I was too aggressive.

9. No, it means "Dean supporters for Dean"
...and, while we're in the primaries, against the pussy-footing of the DLC. This isn't the GE yet, so simmer down with this "you're giving it away to Bush" crap.

16. Hey Girlfriend! No I didn't. You must be a member of the same group LOL
I intend to caucaus for him, and hope for 15%. If he doesn't pull 15% I'll abstain because Kerry and Edwards are one in the same to me. I go back and fourth on who's better, but I come to the conclusion that they are both luke warm at best. ;)

Unless by the time Montana's rolls around (in June) it still hasn't been decided...in which case I will vote for Edwards (assuming some miracle doesn't happen to somehow put Dean back in the running).

34. He asked us to vote for him in the primaries. Campaign only "suspended"
DEAN: I am no longer actively pursuing the presidency. We will, however, continue to build a new organization, using our enormous grassroots network, to continue the effort to transform the Democratic Party and to change our country. And I...

(APPLAUSE)

And speaking to all of you and all of the hundreds of thousands of people around America who are going to get this word, either by the establishment media...

(LAUGHTER)

... or the Internet, I have some things that I specifically want to ask of our supporters.

First, keep active in the primary. Sending delegates to the convention only continues to energize our party. Fight on in the caucuses. We are on the ballots. Use your network to send progressive delegates to the convention in Boston. We are not going away. We are staying together, unified -- all of us.
