2. If it were that easy.
I'm sure some would have stepped up to the plate by now. My opinion is that the media outlets aren't that profitable and they are getting a lot funding from RW think tanks to be used as propaganda mills. Also, it could be that if Soros and others have put in bids behind the scenes, they have been turned down and maybe the only way to do it is as a hostile takeover.

Of course we could all step up and buy shares until we own 51% of the companies, then we can push the board of directors into pushing the CEOs to change the way they do things, but this is such a long shot, it's not even worth the bother of thinking about it.

4. A hostile takeover would work though.

7. You are correct about this.
Look how many newspapers and TV stations are falling along the way side. But I think the problem is, people don't want to read or hear what this group of media holders are putting out there.

Maybe if the news told the news and the TV showed the news we all might go back to watching and listening and reading again.

8. William Shirer writes in his masterpiece, "The Rise and Fall
of the Third Reich" about Nazi Germany, that when Hitler's crowd took over the media, the news and journals were so boring that people stopped reading them, however, since they were being funded by backers of the Reich they kept on cranking out the propaganda that no one was reading.

5. Al Gore got sabotaged when he made an effort.
He ended up with Current TV, but I think he was going to get a more political one. The financing kept falling apart.

6. DUers said that years ago
Somebody needs to dig up the threads and show Big Eddie how the loony left was way ahead of him on this obvious stroke of genius.

Big Eddie sees Big Money.

10. I have been thinking the same thing for years. Especially Air America.
It is unbelievable to me that our only outlet for real news keeps having financial probs.
