Hillary raises 27Mil, over 100,000 new donors latest quarter...crushes other candidates
Just received the following email...

Our fundraising is through the roof!

Hillary wanted you to be the first to know that this was our best quarter yet. More than 100,000 new donors. A total of $27 million raised -- substantially more than any other candidate in the race.

This is all thanks to you and your hard work. You -- and over a million supporters like you -- are working together with Hillary to create real momentum that will take us to victory.

This is the moment when you showed that America is ready for change and that you are ready to make history. This is the moment when your dedication defied the skeptics.

The early primaries and caucuses are coming up fast. We're going to need your help a lot in the next few months. Later this week, Hillary will write to tell you about how you can get involved in our new field program and talk to voters directly on behalf of the campaign.

But for now, I want to thank you again for all your incredible hard work and dedication. Hillary wanted to thank you, too -- but I'll let her speak for herself.

I don't like "crushes other candidates" anymore than I like hearing Hillary's laugh described as a "cackle."

I have said many times that our worst candidate is better than the best Repub candidate.

I don't want any Dem candidate dissing any other Dem candidate. Keep the focus on the Repubs, I say.

Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton raised $22 million for her presidential primary campaign this summer, outpacing all other candidates so far with her best three-month showing of the year.

has to go to the General election campaign.. I know you, know your headline was misleading...but we always check your posts for accuracy.. here is direct quote from your link:

"Clinton raised a total of $27 million in the quarter, her campaign said Tuesday, but $5 million is designated for the general election and can't be used in her quest for the Democratic nomination. For the first time, she reported attracting more new donors in a quarter than her chief fundraising rival, Illinois Sen. Barack Obama."

46. Obama is still far ahead in tolal primary money - from that article
She has raised $62 million, he has raised $75 million. The other question may be how quickly each is spending it -but that is not there. If there is a significantly different burn rate, those numbers could not be what they seem.

After the 2nd Q, when debts were included Obama had outspent her by about $3M.

We'll have to wait until the 15th to see the money spent based on FEC filings.

I wasn't sure if the $62 included the transfer or not - so left that alone. It dose look like they will have about the say amount of money - far more than anyone at this stage in 2004. I remember it was a big deal that deal was able to raise an unprecedented $40 million in last qtr 2003 (I think).

Craig Crawford’s Trail Mix: Clinton Invincibility Campaign Poses Risks

In politics, as in real life, no one wants to be the last to climb aboard a crowded train that is pulling out of the station — there might not be any seats left. And that is precisely the scenario that Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s presidential campaign is aggressively trying to promote.

This morning’s announcement that the New York Democrat collected $27 million for the fundraising quarter just ended will likely enhance her invincibility campaign. (...)

But is it too soon for Clinton to peak? Buyer’s remorse might set in among Democrats who worry that she is not ultimately electable. (...)

The race is far from over but this is really stretching it for the "peak too early story".

Clinton just outraised Obama for the the 1st time this year. She is beating every one of the GOP outside the MOE in head to head polling. She is shown to beating the GOP head to head in quite a few purple and red states. And polling shows her to be considered the most electable by Democrats.

The "she's not electable" meme is DEAD.

I'm not sure if Obama is captive in a box. That don't sound right to me.

The last I heard was Obama was a horse and Hillary had to keep him in the stable.

Obama has a chance of breaking out (Meet The Press)

The Washington Post's Dan Balz was a guest on NBC's Meet The Press on Sunday. During the commercial break he was talking with Tim Russert about the latest Newsweek poll that shows Obama leading among likely caucus-goers in Iowa.

TIM RUSSERT: Dan Balz, a very strong supporter for Hillary Clinton said to me right now Barack Obama is in the stable. But if he gets out of the stable in Iowa and starts running, he’s a thoroughbred. Because the independents in New Hampshire could cross over and vote for him, you go to South Carolina, half the Democratic voters are African-American. We have to keep him in the stable in the Iowa. These polls indicate that he has a chance of breaking out, although she still is the front-runner.

68. See, I don't listen to pundits trying to frame a pseudo reality for me
then have them contrive a plausible reality. I do my own research and draw my own conclusions.

Obama is in a box...if their metaphoric use of stable resonates with you then fine. The difference is a stable has doors and the box I speak of has six closed sides. The stable metaphor implies an opening. The box I describe does not. That is the major difference. Whats more, I don't agree with Dan Balz's summary of the candidates. He based his opinion on the false impression of the "likely" voters scenario, statistically with a moe of 7% either way. In Obama's *best* case scenario, it puts him in a dead heat with Clinton in the Iowa Caucus. (frankly, I don't see it. But for the sake of this post, I'll go along with Russert's and Balz'z premise temporarily)

In the *all* Democrats voting category, Clinton is ahead by pts with a plus or moe of 5% which calculates out showing the same exact end result of the *likely* Dem poll when you factor in the moe of +-7%.

Russert pushed the story as showing Obama with a lead using the *LIKELY* Voter scenario without mentioning the 7% moe because it would have spoiled his plans. Neither, Russert or Balz ever accounted for the margin of error or included it in their back story. For the record, Stephanopolous did the same thing on his Sunday am show..

All they did was show one poll of *likely* voters placing Obama ahead of Clinton in the Iowa Caucus. That was the lead story for Sunday's political theater.

Is Tim Russert a Democrats best friend? I don't think so. Why would I want to believe him? Why would I want to think his explanation and explanation is anywhere near accurate describing the reality of this election contest, when I can figure that out for myself?

Listening to Tim Russerts rundown of the status of presidential candidates is much like reading the aberrations perpetuated by some DU'ers as gospel for their favored candidate.

70. Apparently you believe the 2008 election is already over
If "Hillary is 44" then it means you think it's inevitable that she will win the Democratic nomination and the Presidency.

Why should I believe anyone who pretends that they already know the outcome of the Presidential election on November 4th, 2008?

To be honest I would rather listen to Dan Balz, who has been reporting on National Politics for the Washington Post since 1978.

60. 100,000 New Donors - 100,000 NEW Donors
Wow! It looks like all those folks like my mom, my brothers and friends did finally send in their $25.

On the ground in New Hampshire I do see this as a little guys campaign. It seems all the old activists are for O, the huge rallies are for O but the average voter on the street loves Hillary. Yes, I know Hillary has the big guys, but it is truly amazing how many people promise to send in $25, $50 or $100 . Being somewhat un-trusting I've wondered how much of our phoning and door knocking would payoff and how many promises were empty. Well I guess it really works and the promises were real.

Go Hillary
Cackle all you want.

63. I like that
but no complacency allowed. This time in '03 my guy Dean had a "lock" and Kerry was borrowing to help his campaign while firing the leadership.

I've sent a little bit in to both Obama and Clinton, and the emails are always nice to read.

80. I wonder how much of it went to support HER and how much of it went to a chance of sitting with Bill
on his couch to watch the next debate. What's amazing is that Obama is still leading in fundraising and number of donors even though he doesn't have a spouse who has coat-tails to ride on. Hillary wouldn't have nearly this much support if it wasn't for her husband. Despite being Bill Clinton's wife, though, she hasn't beaten Obama in fundraising and number of donors. Unbelievable how well Obama is doing against the Clinton machine!

84. It's a pity all the money B.O. has raised has not helped him in the polls.
He appears to be slipping instead of gaining momentum.
