Poll question: Dean Supporters Only: What will you do now until the GE?
Our man has left the race, but he has defined the election.

Now that HD has removed himself, what do you plan on doing from now until the GE?

2. It's not all about Presidential politics.

Our local Dean group is going to become involved with local candidates for the US Senate and House. We plan to hold fundraisers using our network of Dean contacts and to donate our money in bulk so it carries more weight. We also plan to use the data we accumulated in the Dean campaign from our door-to-door efforts to help other candidates improve their voter ID projects. Finally, we intend to donate our time en masse to the candidates we pick to support.

15. Amen
That is exactly what Dean was saying in his speech. We ALL need to hang on and see this thing trough. I still plan to vote for him in my primary on March 3rd. I don't understand the talk of moving to another candidate. You can still vote for Dean in the primaries. He is not "actively campaigning" he's not dead and he didn't remove himself. He can still rack up delegates and take them to the convention fo leverage.

4. Dean in primary
Either 3rd party or abstaining in GE.

Before I get ripped to shreds (like poor Sean), I live in TX, so it's a protest vote for me. The local dunderheads will always give my state to Dubya.

That said, I still believe 100% that no other candidate (besides Dean) has a prayer against Bush. I've lived in this State long enough to see the unvarnished truth of that.

8. How in the world could Dean beat Bush?
He's not better than THIRD in his own party.

10. Only because of the unelectable meme.
Remember, Dean was FIRST until the media decided to shit all over him. I believe Dean recieved more negative coverage than any other candidate, THATS why he's third.

Hell exit polling shows that most voters agreed with Dean on the issues; felt he was the candidate that stood up for what he believed in, and felt Dean offered change. BUT in the end they voted for Kerry because he was more electable. Something that the media coined to slaughter the Dean campaign.

18. Has anyone noticed
how now that Dean has announced he will not be actively campaigning the media is slobbering all over themselves saying things like, Pat Buchanan-"Poor Dean he just got beat up so bad in the media, I mean that Iowa speech was played a thousand times" "he ran a great campaign" "what he accomplished was amazing". And Chris Matthews last night getting on to his guests for not letting up on Dean. As if they have no idea that it was THEM that nailed him every chance they got. That is a prime example of why we all need to continue this fight. Something has got to give soon or it will be all over but the crying. Call it a conspiracy theory but does no one see the obvious slant in the media as to just who it is that the current administration does and does not want to have to run against in the GE?

9. Good for you!
Edited on Wed Feb-18-04 02:27 PM by Sean Reynolds
Mine is protest vote as well. I live in Utah and there is no doubt Utah will go Republican in the general.

And I agree with you, Dean is/was the only candidate that could beat Bush.

The rest might put up a good fight, but in the end they'll lose. But hell, thats why the media sunk the Dean ship.

in an hour....

There aren't that many here on DU anymore- not that many in an hour, at least.

Again, some folks have no integrity.

Most of the ones that didn't leave at the height of the "pile on Howard" era are just sick of polls like these. I didn't vote by the way.

19. Former Nader voter here
Already cast my vote for Dean in my state's caucus, but will now shift my support to Edwards for the time being. Come GE time, I will cast my vote for the democratic nominee. Dean was my guy, but the voters have had their say and it is now time to unite as a force to make sure that Bush does not get another 4 years to ruin this country. I have learned my lesson from 4 years back, and until Instant Runoff Voting (which I will begin actively campaigning for shortly) emerges, I cannot run the risk that my 3rd party vote will help elect Bush and his cabal.

20. other
First order of business is probably finding a DK sticker for the truck. I'll then pour libations in the hope that Kucinich stays in the race at least until March 3 so that I can vote for someone I actually like in the GA primary. Beyond that, though, I imagine that my political efforts will be directed towards helping with the McKinney campaign if she runs again and issues stuff. Georgia is ramrodding an anti-gay marriage amendment proposal through the legislature and a good friend of ours is a state ACLU lawyer leading the fight against it, so I'm hoping to do what I can there.

May put up signs in my yard and a bumper sticker on my car. My wife will probably donate to him, but no real activism for me.

I'll vote Dem in the GE regardless.
