I admire Clinton's refusal to be fit into others' agenda
Edited on Thu Sep-27-07 01:33 PM by question everything
First, Edwards wanted her to apologize for her 2002 vote. She refused to follow his recipe, to go to confession beat her chest with "mea culpa" and to offer several forms of atonement. She explained why she voted, where she stands now and that was it.

Then, last week she was asked about Guiliani's demand that she condemn "The Ad." Again, she refused to follow that script offered her, emphasizing her support for Petreas as an honorable American.

And last night, she refused to be in a position to explain Bill's comments.

No doubt, others can offer more examples but the main point is, most of us, "regular folks" do not like confrontation, so we try to explain, or to find a compromise, to be nice. Even more so for women, I think.

But she states her positions and repeats then and would not be pegged into a hole just because others want her to. I am reminded of those court dramas where a witness if bellowed by an attorney: Yes or No! and the poor witness tries to say that, as with most instances is life, not everything can be divided into a Yes or a No.

4. Then You Must Really Love Our Current President
Love means never having to say you're sorry.

I think Abraham Lincoln said that.

9. She does, but in her own words
not following anyone's script.

And, yes, I think this makes her look presidential.

She is not my first choice, at this time, but her ability to appear poised and to reply in concise sentences that deliver the message.. we live in a world of a sound bytes, like it or not.

This was the problem of Gore, Kerry and, apparently, Obama: individuals who think before they respond, who would like - like most of us - to explain from where they are coming and why they are giving these specific opinions and replies.

Their way would have worked in the times of FDR (I have been watching "The War") but not now.

7. Disingenuous, much?
BTW, name ONE candidate of either party who has vowed to relinquish Bush's usurped powers.

10. "relinquish Bush's usurped powers" relinquishing Executive Branch's powers is ALL-IMPORTANT
Edited on Thu Sep-27-07 01:42 PM by ShortnFiery
regardless of which party takes control of The Executive Branch. However, the last person we want to have those powers is another swaggering War Hawk.

8. Bush does HIS own thing, too. But Hillary DID join Bush and McCain to attack Kerry
So that was ONE BANDWAGON she had no problem jumping on.

13. Biden is very good in saying what he thinks
and to the point but for some reason he has had difficulties communicating it. I actually considered voting for him in 1988 before he had to pull out.

I discount whatever Matthews has to say, I cannot stand the man in the way that he often shouts down his guests after asking them a question.

Still, the point that I was trying to make was not so much supporting Clinton - she is not my choice now though, of course, I will vote for the nominee - but about her refusing to let others set the agenda, asking her questions and demanding that she replies according to their expectations.

This is probably true for others, including Biden, however she is the one at whom such questions and demands are being thrown.
