Heliocentrism is an atheist concept?
A Brownback backing blogger appears to believe the the earth is indeed and in fact, at the center of the universe. I kid you not...

http://blogs4brownback.wordpress.com/2007/05/18/heliocentrism-is-an-atheist-doctrine/

Warning: The graphic ignorance on display at this website does not seem to be a spoof-- I'm afraid this guy actually believes the earth doesn't move-- because if it did, "we would feel it".

The ignorant have been co-opting my religion and all I got was a t-shirt...

False premise based on false premise, often illogically.

5. Am I the only one here who instantly recognizes black propaganda?

And anyone who declares my response to be "racist" is a fucking moron.

13. I meant reply #12 as an answer to Deep13's question
The piece is satire designed to appear to have been written by a real Brownback supporter. The intent is to make Brownback people look even more ignorant than they really are.

9. To me, it's simply hubris and ignorance...
Maybe you could edify us (or just me?) as to how this is propaganda?

To me, it's simply hubris and ignorance...

8. I'm not sure.
It's just too ridiculous. I am having trouble believing that it is true. But there are no winks anywhere in that post -- the delivery is completely straight.

That is either the dumbest guy on the planet, or the greatest website of political satire ever.

10. 'I notice you use thhe metric system. That automatically makes your calculations suspect....
The metric system is pure evil.'
- Sisyphus

Based on that comment along I can't imagine how it could NOT be a joke. I mean, I like the Imperial system as much as the next guy, but to call the metric system pure evil?

12. It's pretty obvious the piece is a spoof
Read some of the comments and how the author defends himself.

Sisyphus wrote the piece as satire in an attempt to make Brownback supporters and fundamentalist Christians look more like crackpots than most of them actually are. The essay is a mish-mash of citations and quotes from goofy Web sites, some of which (e.g. answersingenesis.org) are actually serious, others (e.g. fixedearth.com) are clearly not.

14. My first instinct was that was indeed a spoof
My first instinct was that was indeed a spoof, but then I realize that if there are people who think The Colbert Report is "news" (it took me three weeks to convince a co-worker it was actually satirical), then just maybe...

I hope it's a spoof...
